Oreo Tresiba mistake.

I haven’t been posting Oreos number bc I’ve been so busy with work and just been rolling with it and updating his spreadsheet. Well… Oreos flex pen is about empty and out of date so i decided to break open a new one. To my horror bc I have no clue this is ok for cats. I’m embarrassed I just grabbed a pen and have been dosing him I’m guessing for a year now. Welp they’re my ADHD showing . I was on tresiba at some point a year or more ago. Systematically I’ve been dosing him and never really look at the pen…:banghead:. Well the good news I didn’t kill him. And it appears to be a similar drug like levemir…. Welp… tonight we go back on what he should have been on all along.

UPDATE
I see there is a Tresiba thread I presume it was used at one time here..

Hi Steve. Sone people have tried it because it was thought it might last 24 hours. You can read what Sue and Lucci experienced. She didn’t continue with it and went back to lev I believe. Glad all is well with you.

Hey. Yes it sure doesn’t last 24 hours. I found the thread after I posted this

What strength tresiba have you been giving? I think it comes as U200 and u100.
Were you using a syringe to dose? U100 or u200 syringe? Or were you using the pen delivery system for measuring doses?

If you are swapping back to Lev you need to know the answers to the above questions so that you give the appropriate Lev dose.

He was getting u-100 and was using the syringe. I kept is pen in a cup in the fridge and never looked at it all along thinking I’m giving lev. I gave him the .25 of lev last night

Lev is also u100, so you will have kept the same dose, when you swap insulin types even though they are both long acting you can get an initial strong response, so be watchful.

Ohhhhh I see. I’m gonna be away until Sunday morning and I’m preparing shots for him. Maybe I’ll hold off and half the person not give him the shots while I’m gone since he won’t be tested.
