Hi all, can someone take a look at the ss and offer opinions? We have not given him a shot in ~48 hours. Sugars are 212 right now. We are just watching and testing. Does anyone have an opinion? Thanks for all the assistance.

When you can be around to monitor, I think I'd give him a little bit of insulin if he is above 180. Maybe .2? We consider a kitty in remission if they range from 40 - 120 off insulin. Oreo is a little higher than that.

I'm with Sue here. Those numbers are great, but there is room to come down a bit. Just a bit to give his pancreas a bit of help!

I had read on that with an alphatrak 2 that 186-217 could be high normal; the Pro-Zinc sticky if off insulin no shot in this range. So I was trying to put it all together. The biggest issue now is that even with the U100 syringes it is getting hard to give a low dose. We were on .4U, I will try to lower it but we are beyond true measurements and doing some guessing at this point. I will be around today so we will see. Thanks so much for the advice!

Forgot you were using AlphaTrak. Sorry. Still looks a little high to me. Two choices. 1. See if he drops on his own over more time. To help this along, you might consider lowering the carb count of the food if possible. Sometimes that makes a difference. 2. Pull up .4 and let out a drop or two.

Usually, if they are in the higher of normal ranges, they start climbing back up. (But sometimes not). I think the trick is to stay on top of the numbers and intervene when needed.

You might check some of the spreadsheets of the kitties on the Remission thread at the top of this forum and see the various approaches other people have used to get OTJ.

I just tested O-man and is at 141. Right now he is eating lovesome salmon, I think the carbs (GA) are around 5% but I did that math so...

Any way, I am scared to give him a shot this close to bedtime...I will test him again after he eats before I make final decision for the evening. Thank you as always for the help @Sue and Oliver (GA) & @Rachel !
