Hello and welcome.
Great job getting those tests in, remember to keep rewarding ooter with lots of loving and his favourite treat when you've tested and before you know it it will get easier.
Those pre shot numbers are looking pretty good, but with no midcycle tests they do make me a bit nervous about how low he may be going.
I hate to ask, as you are both getting used to testing but I agree with Bobbie, you need to start getting some midcycle tests in.
I would start by getting an additional test at +2, if that number is lower than your preshot or about the same, you may need to get further tests.
Lantus will onset at around +2, and in am active cycle you may see numbers continue to drop until at least +6 (though sometimes beyond that)
If 1u is a good dose for Ooter then his cycles may be relatively flat and he may well be spending a lot of time in green and blue, which is great, but as he does spend more time in those numbers it's entirely likely that he'll drop below 50 at some point and earn a reduction in dose. To catch that, it's important to get some midcycle tests in, otherwise he may get to low without you realising and that could prove risky. Remember that by the time a cat shows symptoms of being hypo you are in an emergency situation. George got to 27 once with no symptoms, and he took some bringing up into safe numbers.
