I just tested Edward and the result came back with the words "control solution" under the number. Does anyone know what that means?

Also, it is just turning off even when there is ample blood on the strip. This meter is only 2 weeks old. Very frustrating.

This manual on pg 63

says that you can press a button the meter after you insert a strio to have the results indicate that the resulting value is with control solution vice a real blood tes. Thus, it appears that you pressed that button. The value indicated is still a valid value if blood was tested.
Regarding turning off, the meter will turn off after a set period of time. It sounds like the meter is turn itself off after that time. What I do have a holder for the meter and only partially insert the strip into the meter so that the meter does not turn on. After I poke and it appears that a good drop is forming I furning insert the strip and when the meter is ready to accept blood and more the time of the strip to the blood.

I've been using the OneTouch Verio for several months. Anytime I get the "control solution" reading for a blood test and/or it turns off prematurely I change the batteries - fixes the problem every time. Don't waste strips and keep testing when control solution displays in error - I learned the hard way and wasted a lot of strips. The batteries that originally came with my meter didn't last long either. Wish it had a battery life indicator, but other than that I love this meter.

YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!! I will change the batteries and be extra careful not to bump any buttons after testing.

FWIW, I don’t press the strip fully in until I have blood showing. Time-out was not an issue here. It was counting down after blood application... got to 1... went dark. Sigh.
