One Touch Verio...anyone use these strips?

I've found a way to get One Touch Verio strips more affordabley than the alphas. Anyone use these? Do they read well? What meter is best to use with them...there seems to be a couple that can be used with them? Any advice / info appreciated...Thanks.

You need to get one of the three One Touch Verio meter sot use the Verio strips. See:

One advantage of the Verio is that it only requires 0.4 ul of blood compared with the The older One Touch meters that required 1 ul of blood. Many caretakers hee uses the Walmart Confirm which uses 0.3 ul of blood.

Yeah, I ve looked at the meters. Just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestion wich of them would be best. I can't find any of the cheaper meters here in Canada, the only one I've seen is one of the ones with true in thee name...everyone says they aren't reliable. I suddenly found a way to get the Verio strips free...MUCH CHEAPER! Was just wondering if anyone had used them...or tried any on the 3 monitors they can be used in. I did eventually find a thread on here that some had tried one of them and a different meter...they found a large variation between the readings on the 2. Will have to start by comparing the readings to the alpha to see the difference.

Do you own comparison. I suspect that all three meters to give essentially give the same BG results within the +/- 20 variation for the meter. The variation is made up of meter-to-meter, strip-to-strip variation (mainly form lot-to-lot of strips) and other variations. I used the One Touch Ultra since it compared nicely with my vet's lab results but stopped when they got too expensive

If you don't mind...could I ask another question. Can't find anything on it, and feel stupid for even asking! But, is there anywhere, you shouldn't touch the strips or anything...I've been trying to be so carefull to only touch the white parts of the strips I'm using...have this idea stuck in my head that if I touch either the part that goes in the meter, or where you pick up the drop...that I could contaminate it and cause bad readings. Probably sounds silly...just can't find anything on this anywhere? So it sound be fine to touch them anywhere? Maybe?

Avoid contaminating the little tube which sips up the blood drop, as that might alter readings..
Also, debris on the test strip might gum up the meter slot where the strip is inserted.
Reasonably clean hands will do.
You can snag the blood drop on your fingernail and test from there if your cat is squirmy.

Thank you! I always wash my hands before I open the bottle of strips, and dry them well. will continue to be carefull, but good to know I don't have to be as carefull with the other end!
