One more Question before PM shot.

So Ebby went from an AM 518 to a +5 of 180. If she can come down that fast, and say I give her one unit tonight with a PS # of say 220, she has no room to loose that 300. Does that make sense? Basically, if she was able to go down that much from a 518 PS, wouldn't it suggest she might go down the same amount from a 220 PS?

Would it be best if she shows a fairly low number at PS to only give .5 for the night shot?

Ok, sorry....another question:
Her ears are looking overall more red. I would not say infected just redder than I remember. There are only a couple spots where the poke didn't seem to heal the best. One time she yanked away as I was poking, so it sort of scratched the ear. Also, she does not like the poking as much on the left ear, and it also doesn't bleed as well, so I've had to use the right ear more. Is this redness a concern?

I really appreciate all of the responses and support. It really helps, especially on the frustrating days. :smile:

It can't be figured quite that accurately. But yes, since it's overnight and she did drop a lot today, I think .5 would be good for a preshot around 200. And a good idea to get a before bed test just to see how things are going.

Are you using Neosporin on her ears? That helps.

Cats (and people) will grow new blood vessels in an area where there are already existing blood vessels. It's called angiogenesis. If you favor one ear over the other, that is ok. The less tested ear will not grow as many new capillaries as the ear you test more. No big deal.

Neosporin with pain relief, the gel, not the cream, helps the blood to bead up and heal the ear and lesson the pain. Use only the tiniest dab and wipe off any excess with a tissue or cotton ball or something similar.

Also, applying a bit of pressure to the poke spot, after the poke, for 15-30 seconds will help to prevent bruising. This is the part that Wink always hated and wanted to squirm away.
