On Lantus. Must I feed every time b4 shot?

Just thought I'd post the question here too...

Is it mandatory for me to feed when I shoot on Lantus as well. i know I am supposed to do it within 10 minutes of shooting with Lantus, but is that just for the AM? Fed her a 6:30pm tonight and now have to give shot at 9:00pm, and I would have liked to have waited a little longer for her night time snacky...

personally, i don't worry about that kind of thing on lantus. i think it's more important if one was using N or vetsulin, but not quite so much if you're on Lantus or Levemir. for that matter, i didn't even worry about it too much when we were on pzi because i knew Mousie would eat if she needed to and wasn't a vomiter.

that's just me and my experience though. fortunately Mousie has made our journey pretty easy on me in that she was diagnosed young and is otherwise healthy so i've yet to worry about vomiting or inappetance or some other complicating factor too much so get some others input too

I'm trying to space out their meals in a timely fashion so they don't throw up from being too hungry. They seem to like to eat several times a day instead of just 2 meals probably because they were always free fed dry food up until lately... I'll just hold off and feed at 10. She only threw up one morn when she was REALLY hungry the other day before I fed...

No. Sometimes I tested bg and shot and my cat wouldn't eat until half an hour later or so. I think as long as you know your cat and her eating habits, you should be fine.
