WTH--She has not seen greens to my knowledge since forever.....I am not home....the sitter went to check on her.

She is now going home with the sitter.

No shot obviously........Unbelievable....any thoughts?

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

OMG breakthrough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How crazy though that she is with the sitter. I don't have a clue what you should do (except obviously no shot yet!). I will look at the SS. Maybe try PMíng the TID 'xperts?

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

Yippee on the breakthrough though, FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is what happened with Bix (on BID though) - his PSs started gradually squishing down to pinks and then yellows, and then when I was one cycle away from another dose increase, he popped down to a perfect 50 nadir at +6. Looks like Kitty is finally ready & doing the same thing - the trick though is to keep the pressure on with the dose to keep them in blues & greens, without overdoing it. I don't think you can expect the sitter to do that though, I wouldn't want to in your shoes, just too many things that can go wrong if you don't already have a little experience under your belt.

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

Are you sure the pet sitter gave her the correct dose? Maybe it was off a little and higher than planned?

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

Kim how long are you gone for? Is is just overnight or several days? If it's a short trip, I would consider having the sitter shoot BID, or stay at TID but just lower back to I don't know... 3.5? 3? And I would set a decent no shoot for her especially on TID. This was off a 303 PS? I don't feel comfortable enough with TID to really say, plus it looks like if she is getting greens she may need to go to something like +10 shooting, or As Needed, depending on how her numbers look.

Ooooh, I'm so excited!!!!! Go Cool Kitty go!!!! Greenies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

I gave the midshot ....I know it was the same fat 3.7.

The sitter is freaking! She is taking Kitty home with her...I will recheck her in 4 hours which would be a bid reading. I have a feeling this might have happened last night...she woke me up really hungry and was over 400 this am--I thought it was a blue bounce.

This actually is a +8, not a bid preshot, so she probably didn't go a lot lower...the sitter said she only ate 1/2 her food--so, she isn't starved.

Any thoughts?

I am pretty freaked too!

What timing...why tonight...the one night I am not home....

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

I will be back tomorrow night.

I would be a lot more excited if I was home....

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

What I've done when Shaikha has pulled stunts like this was just wait and keep testing. Sometimes she'd go up pretty quickly after an hour or two, and sometimes she'd just surf for a while in the blues. If she starts rising too much you could give a smaller than normal dose to tide her over until the next one, or you can skip if she's too low to shoot. Shaikha had one period back in early July when she was 49 at AMPS -- what a shock! Not sure how either but she surfed greens and blues for 14 full hours before she started zooming up. Bizarre. She was showing a lot of blues before that though in addition to occasional longer duration, so I tried going back to BID which didn't work well at all. Looking back I wonder whether that little experiment contributed to her flareup of pancreatitis now, but it may also just have been a coincidence.

I do cut back on dose though when I get things like that happening if the longer duration happens again. For whatever reason, it seems that Kitty's pancreas has come back to life. Let's hope it continues!

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

Given what you've said, Kim, I agree with Joanna. Since you aren't there, cutting back on dose would likely be a good idea. I wouldn't go as drastic as going back to BID - too big a change, but cutting back on dose even if it means higher numbers would probably be wise. Since Kitty has thrown ketones, you'd need to not cut back too much but a little should give you more balance until you get back home.

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

Yeah, since it's +8 hopefully it means she got a nice nadir and had a nice surf today. Maybe she won't be so quick to go up to reds even, could be she is starting to get used to them? [anti-jinx!!!}

whew I am glad you are back tomorrow, was worried you are gone a couple weeks! this is an awesome opportunity and hopefully even if she gets off track tonight, you can get back on track quickly when you are back, and maybe get this girl regulated, woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(no I haven't been drinking, but I think this calls for a toast! drinking24

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

Why tonight?????!!!!!!

The sitter fed.....and wanted to retest...I told her too late...numbers will be inflated. I think I will wait until 3 am +12 and have her retest and then shoot if she is shootable. Then I will have the sitter take her to the vet in the morning for the day and let them handle her until I can get home.

I had someone lined up to come shoot tomorrow at 3 pm---this all is out the window. So, I think she needs to just go to the vet in the morning until I can get home.

UNBELIEVABLE!

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

Quick, check your cell phone! I think that Kitty and Shaikha have been conspiring to come up with curve balls today for us both!

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

Robin--I thought the samething about the food poisoning!

I just wish I was home...I don't trust anyone with her and Kitty doesn't like to be tested by anyone but me...the sitter said she tried to bite her!

I can't believe this........

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

What timing!! That's the way it always seems to be though! Well, it's a good number but I can imagine how you feel. I think it's good to take her to the vet tomorrow unless your sitter can be with her. Is this your vet tech friend?

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

Uh oh, I have a feeling your sitter is going to be expensive! lol - 3 am testing ohmygod_smile that's double overtime! you are lucky to have someone who can handle testing... imagine not having that test

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

The end of the world has to be coming......the lights just went out in the hotel.....now I just need my wireless to crash!

Trust me, my sitter gets plenty! Yes, this is the vet tech friend. I am waiting for her to call me back.

I should be happy....BUT, what timing!

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

Yep Joanna----with no test......it would have been real UGLY. ANd, no one home with her......real UGLY.

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........

Gosh Kim...sorry about the lights! I hope they come back on soon & you don't loose wireless!

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........question!!!

If I test at +12 and she is back up to 300+ what would you shoot? I shot 3.7 into 303 at the midcycle today...my plan is for her to go to the vet for babysitting tomorrow. What would you shoot....safe?!

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........question!!!

Dang! Lost my post again. I'd cut back your dose some. A drop from 3.7 to 3 for example would be about 10%. That's about the same size of the changes I've made with Shaikha but she gets much smaller amounts. Look back on your SS -- how did Kitty do with 3U previously? She'll be at the vet so they should be able to monitor her okay, though the TID thing may confuse them! ;)

Re: OMG Kitty is 91 at pmps........question!!!

If I can shoot at 3 am--they can test her at 11 am and decide whether to continue the tid or just dose her bid until I get back.

I just wonder how much I should give tonight. I wonder what caused the BIG drop for her...fluids today ( but she gets them a lot, but not with this effect), breakthrough.... I just wonder what changed.

 So, the sitter took Kitty home with her and let her out of the carrier. Kitty took off running and got under the bed and would not come out. At 3am, I called to see what the bg was and the sitter was hysterical---Kitty would not come out and was growling at her (I could hear her on the phone!) So.......the sitter had to take her bed apart to get Kitty (why I am laughing so hard as I type this....I need to get one of those collars Ginny used for Aex). Finally an hour later (4 am), Kitty is in the carrier heading back to my house, so she can be tested in familiar surroundings. And the sitter is calling me with a play by play---I am so tired!!!! I have a presentation to give today...and have had no sleep.

So, at +13.5 and a lot of stress....Kitty was 521. I had no idea what to give her --so, I stuck with the f3.7. I think this will be okay--I know there is some bounce in the number and she probably will stay high today, no matter what the sitter shot. I have another brave soul lined up to take Kitty to the vet today...I hope Kitty will go with her. Kitty is great, she will literally run to me to get tested when I get the meter, but she is not interested in other people testing her.

I probably will never regain the momentum from last night's 91--but, hopefully when I get home I can get her settled down.

I can't wait to get the bill from the sitter!!!!!! I wonder how much they charge to disassemble beds!!!!

Truly, do you think I can maintain last night's momentum or will I have to start over? What would you expect?

My plan is to let this shot or cycle be 10 hours---that would keep my tid shot cycles on schedule..does that seem reasonable?

Sleepy in NC!

I'm so sorry, Kim, but at least you can laugh at it a little. The visual of her taking the bed apart is too good! I think sticking with your old dose is fine given that she was so high and it had been so long since her last shot. What I've done when Shaikha has gotten off schedule like that was something similar, sticking with a slightly longer interval than TID so I could work her back to the usual times, but only giving two shots if that's all I could get in.

You may actually not lose much momentum at all. I'm sure the stress impacted Kitty's numbers a little, but I've found that Shaikha bounces back pretty quickly usually when she gets out of sync. I don't think you'll have to "start over" from scratch.

Hope the presentation goes well today!

I read the post from top to bottom and it just kept getting wilder. What a story!
Maybe we should buy stock in the calming collar company!
