Does anyone on here give their kitty Omega 3, and if so, what do you suggest, and has it helped with their overall health in anyway?

Would it be safe to give along with the Cosequin that I'm currently giving Blackie?

I did a bit of research and noticed that it can help with joints, too, and I can also give it to my civvies. They're not getting any younger, either.

I'm also noticing that the Zobaline isn't really doing anything for Blackie, so I may just ditch that, and hopefully get the Omega 3 instead. It'll save on cost.

Hi Angela,

We tried the Welactin Omega-3 supplements, but the cats didn't like it. They generally refused to eat their food when it was mixed in. I eventually gave up trying, so I can't tell you how helpful it would have been. I've heard Nordic Naturals recommended here several times. I think that might be what Marje uses, but don't hold me to that.

Yeah, I saw an ad for Nordic Naturals, and that's why I'm asking. I've also read the reviews of it. This is the product that was advertised:

I may have to make another trip to my vet's to see what she thinks of this. If anything, it'll help with the cost, and hopefully Blackie's and the civvies' overall health.

Just trying to avoid another $25.00 office visit, you know?

I am using the Nordic Naturals wild anchovy and sardine oil. Max will eat it in his food. I'm trying to give him cell advance 440 which is a powder and that he won't take in food. The capsules are too big so I put them into smaller ones but he is getting maybe 1/4 of what he should get so that one is a wash. Those are antioxidants. I bring it up only to say that some cats will take the Omegas.

Ok, that's what I thought. Thank you, Elise. :-D I'll probably have to talk to my vet about this before giving it to her, and find out if it's ok to give to her in conjunction with the Cosequin.

I use the Nordic Naturals Omega 3 Pet and love it. Gracie licks it right off her plate and then swipes her tongue all around the outside of her mouth to make sure she didn't miss any!

I think it would be fine to give in addition to the cosequin since the latter seems to be helping her.

Ok, thank you, Marje. I know that the Cosequin, and the Omega 3 are 2 different "vitamins" of a sort. After all, we all take at least 2 or more supplements a day. I know I do. I need to get more Cosequin, also. My own bones are creaking, and cracking as I walk. It sucks getting old, as I'm sure you're all aware.

FWIW, Gabby wasn't a fan of omega-3 or Nordic Naturals. I've never fed the kitties fish so fish oil was a non-starter. Obviously, this is very much an ECID thing.
