Oliver’s BG is concerningly high…

Oliver has been high since his pmps yesterday. Checked ketones last night. They are trace. He is drinking a lot and eating decently and no concerning behavior at this time.

There is a chance he got his brothers high carb food yesterday morning but I am not positive as I don’t know if there was any food in the bowl but the door to where the other food is kept got left open momentarily. Not sure if this is what is going on here but thought I would mention it as it is a possibility. (Don’t worry the teen cat mom that left it open when letting Oliver out to roam got an appropriate yelling at)

We gave .1 just a little bit ago and are monitoring closely to see if we can get another read on ketones.

Wow. Just wow! Something certainly spiked him up high. What kind of food was it? And it was yesterday in the morning? I hope his numbers start coming down further soon because this is just so unexpected. Keep me posted.

Yes “if” he got into it it was yesterday morning. It’s his old food which was Purina one sensitive skin and stomach. Which is estimated to be over 30% carbs. Really hoping and praying his +4 is better!

Any ketones?
So we know it wasn’t a contraband food issue. I would try increasing his insulin to .2 units. Will you be able to get some tests today? If his AMPS is back down in a more normal range this morning, you could perhaps wait before increasing, but if it’s red or black I would increase.

He is at 417 this morning i can monitor closely today. So we will go ahead and do .2 Ketones were trace the last couple times we have checked but that was over 24 hours ago so we will try to get another check on that.
