Oliver Continued... Re-starting PZ tomorrow (Jan 14) following a scary bg drop.

The plan is to check bg tonight and of course in the morning pre-shot along with a ketone check and move forward with .6 units of pz tomorrow morning if all looks good. Will post numbers in the morning.

I totally understand this. I don’t know what I would do without my daughter helping with our cats. She’s a great nurse for them.
 
I immediately gave him 1/2 tsp of Karo followed by about half a can of beef gravy fancy feast. Got his blood sugar up to 98 15 minutes later. He is SO tired of me poking him making this blood checks super challenging but oh well. I plan to check him again after 30 minutes.

So glad I had our hypo stuff together. I really didn’t think I would need it!
 
Then when you saw a lower number at +2 you would have known to make sure he eats and to keep on testing to make sure you were managing his numbers with food. Usually his regular LC food will be enough, but if you give that and it seems he is still dropping too fast then you would move to MC food. And you would keep testing every 30 minutes. Food is to be given in SMALL amounts during low numbers (like the 51.). We need to keep kitty hungry because you may be dealing with low numbers for several hours and if you fill them up then you have lost a tool to steer their numbers because they will not eat any more. More of the food is not better.
 
So take a breather and see if you can read through my posts and reply. His BG may drop back down after the carbs wear off but hopefully not that much. Please enter every single test you got and are now getting into his spreadsheet. Don’t worry about the colors right now.
 
Oh my gosh… I just realized I missed this whole thread amongst the commotion earlier today. Thank you so much for all your help. I don’t know what I would do without you!
 
Oh no. I was wondering what happened to my postsand you weren’t acknowledging them. We were on two different threads at the same time. That’s not good. I will have to make sure next time that it’s all on one thread or the other. I was at the vet again while I was writing to you and I was afraid my phone was about to die so I think that distracted me.

Good to know! was able to get him to eat a little more so that made me feel better and he has had his dose. Alarm is set for a snack and bg at +2!
 
Okay so it’s looking like .2 is probably not enough for him, but I would like to keep to this dose for several more days. It will give his body time to adjust to everything too (since we do not have the urgency of him producing ketones.) He did very well today. And the snacks helped him! Keep up the scheduled snacks. You did GREAT at testing today. Thank you so much.

Had a weirdly high reading at +4 last night. Much higher than I expected to see. But it’s nice to see him in the yellow this morning.
