Older civvie throwing up

My older cat Arthur which is about 15 is throwing up, it used to be about once a week but is becoming more frequent. Today all morning he threw up. I had him to the vet about a week ago and they did bloodwork and it was normal, BG and kidney function normal.
I am taking him back today for the throwing up, what else should I have them check for? He will lay on his side a lot which I don`t remember him doing.
If I don`t tell these vets what to check for they have no clue and will just run up the bill. So any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry no expert advice here but I'm thinking an xray of the tummy is in order?
Sorry you and kitty are going through this.

Just took him and they did an xray and gave him Cerenia, then Barium. I will take him back this evening for another xray of the tummy.

Did you get any news from the x-ray of your Arthur yesterday?

My couple of civvies and one diabetic boy, Rudder, some years back, had this vomiting problem and it got worse and worse. These cats were about 14 or 15, and my vet back then (same one that operated on my Woodee for fibrosarcoma in 2007), told me that sometimes cats at this later stage of their lives develop microscopic cancer of the intestines and/or stomach, that cannot be x-rayed, but they need to be biopsied, but he did not recommend it for my three cats that had these similar symptoms. It is costly, and does not really lengthen their lives if you do find out they have cancer.

Poor Rudder, kept getting worse, even with Pepcid A/C and his mother, Gracie had Cerenia, etc. and they both dropped weight rather quickly, and could barely eat, and I finally had to let them go.

Rudder's vomit started looking like coffee grounds, and he developed diarrhea with blood, and he always had IBD problems, and pancreatitis, but I think it truly was cancer that ended his life.

I sure hope your Arthur does not have this, but it is just part of my experiences, since I had quite a few cats in 2005 when my husband died. I had 12. Now I am down to 4. So hard to watch them go through pain and suffering. I think nausea, to me, is one of the worst things to go through.

Thanks for your response. They found nothing between the xrays and bloodwork with Arthur. They also recommended a biopsy which I said no to. I am not putting him through that. They said it could be intestinal cancer or IBD. I am giving him pepcid every day. They said as long as he is still eating which he is we will just watch him for now.
So I will hope that he does not lose any weight and continues to eat.

always something. I am so sorry.
he is not constipated by chance?? guess the x-rays would have shown that. I think with IBD, they also have diarrhea

No he was not constipated, in fact he was clear all the way through the bowels. I thought maybe it was that too.

Food allergies were talked about and that might be the next course of action rather than anything radical. If it is IBD what food do people feed their cats that have IBD? We had to feed my Siamese mix Green Peas and Duck at one point years ago as we thought she might have food allegies. I have never had a cat with IBD before.

Did they check his thyroid levels? Able to get a fecal exam? My older civie had vomiting from hyper- thyroidism. My younger civie had it from worms. Hope the vomiting stops soon.

No they did not check his thyroid levels. Did other bloodwork but not that. I just put Revolution on them for the past couple months but not sure they had fleas but they were digging. I did it for precautionary but never saw any actual fleas, so I am not sure how they could have gotten worms.
If I have to take him again I will have them check his thyroid.
