Hi guys: Most of you have never heard of me but the old timers will remember me I'm sure. I haven't been around much for the last couple of years since Tori went to the Bridge so I hope you don't mind if I turn to some old friends and ask for some prayers or my baby Rocky. I still very much believe that the prayers of the Lantus Landers can result in miracles.

So here's the deal. My 17 year old Kitty Rocky is in hospital right now fighting for his life. We first learned about 6 years ago that he had chronic kidney disease and he has been doing very well until just a few days ago. He didn't even require sub cue fluids. 4 days ago Rocky got out some how and was gone for the entire day. When he finally showed up he was very tired and basically slept for the rest of the day. The next morning I noticed a slight limp that came and went but nothing else. By Monday he was starting to act a bit strange. He started to totally reject his raw food but would eat Fancy Feast just fine. He spent his entire time between meals sleeping on my bed. He looked so comfy and would cuddle with me as always when I laid down with him. I just had a bad feeling so I made an appointment with Dr Doug for yesterday afternoon. By that time he was more lethargic and limping badly. When awake he would just sort of stare out into space. Doug took a look at him and found him to be a bit dehydrated but now bad enough to need an IV just by examining him. He drew blood and the results were off the charts. He was a bit shocked I think because he doesn't look that sick. Anyway he's at the clinic on a drip and we're going to see what the next 48 hours bring. He'll be repeating the labs this morning and then will give me a call. I'm so scared I'm going to loose him.

Rocky has always been my soul kitty. He's always been a one person cat and luckily that's been me. My son calls him my Familiar. He's a gentle soul who has been rail all his life with IBD. He was the one who always welcomed strays into our home- feline , canine and human. He was the one who comforted Tori the night before she died cuddling with her in the kitty carrier when she tried to hide. He kept her warm and let her know how much he loved her. He's the one who has slept with me everyday and gave me back massages and slept with his head on my pillow and his little paw on my shoulder. I he goes I don't know what I'll do. I'm not ready to say goodbye.

After we let the clinic yesterday I went to see my brand new grandchildren who were born on Monday. A boy and a girl. Talk about mixed emotions. There I was cuddling with my grandson and trying not to think about Rocky. The Circle of Life I guess.

Anyway please pray for my little old man. We need your prayers and maybe the kitties could go visit him and bring him some chicken soup. Funny yesterday when they put some food in his kennel he woofed it right down. I'll keep you posted.

Sending tons of healing vines for Rocky and hugs for you. Tess is out the door and rounding up a whole busload of KTSS kittehs to bring soup and comfort to Rocky. She says"No problem!" getting them all into the hospital unseen!

Barb, we are new to the group but want you to know we have Rocky in our prayers. My Peyton has been in kidney failure for a little over 2 years and sounds a lot like your Rocky. Just a sweet gentle soul. One suggestion that you have probably already considered is to start a round of antibiotics. I think with Rocky being in CRF for 6 years I doubt I need to give you any advice just prayers. Sending great big hugs and healing prayers :YMHUG:

Hi Barb!
Rocky's added to all our prayers here too - it's so EXTRA hard when it's our 'soul-mate' kitties. We love all them tremendously but there are always a few that are just 'different' in a very special way....you'll never be ready but you will do as he asks however hard it is. I've had 2 like that...I still miss them terribly - one 16 years ago, the other only last year....

BIG HUGE LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG HUG....and another...

((((Barb)))),
I'm sorry that Rocky is not doing well and hope that he can rally. Rusty is out collecting some beautiful healing vines and has a big pot of chicken soup on the stove. Tess is picking up all the kitties in the KTSS bus. They'll be there soon.

Sending much love to you and hoping that all will turn out OK.

{{Barb}},

LL is one big, loving family, and we circle the wagons when one of us is in trouble. The kittehs are on their way with chicken soup and lots of healing vines. I know what you're going through, and although we've never "met", I wish I could be there to hold your hand as you go through this. We are all there in spirit, and lots of prayers and hugs are headed your way. Stay strong and please keep us posted. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

(((Barb))),
I was thinking of you and Tori quite recently. Congratulations on the new grand babies! I am sending many prayers to Rocky for a complete recovery.

((((Barb))))

Sending tons of vines for Rocky.

Has Dr. Doug ruled out something toxic that he may have gotten into while outside? (It is lily season.)
