(7am)AMPS - 162 - fed 1/4 Can FF (no insulin)
(8am) - 144

left food out for grazing

Had to leave for work but he was falling so I didn't give any insulin. Hopefully this is the right call, probably won't be home till 5 pm!

Darn! He isn't making this easy. Of course, the best thing would be if you were home to catch him on the rise and give him a small amount of insulin. But I do understand that your life is complicated. I would test as you walk in the door and if he is over 150, give him a shot. (You may have to throw the schedule out the window now since he is giving you low numbers at preshot times anyway.)

His numbers are very encouraging. Is there any way to change your work schedule so it is a little more flexible? Or take a few sick days? If you can take advantage of these lower numbers and catch him on the rise, it is your best change for remission. And I know that is your goal before you have to leave for Europe.

Did you see that Gayle and Shadow responded to your post on Health and live in Toronto? Maybe she, or some other member she knows in the area, will help you find a FD cat sitter.

I def. can't take anytime off, but I can try to run home at lunch (will take longer than lunch time) and then work a few extra hours. I will try to do that today.... head home at noonish..... and I think I'm just going to have to go day by day timing wise and like you said, throw the schedule out the window

I found a retired nurse who cat sits. She is willing to do the insulin but not the testing. At least that is a start........

Still right (even at this point) not to shoot a falling number though right?

I mean I could have shot at 162 this morning..... but then he fell to 144!

No, you were right. If you were going to be around, you might be a little more daring. But if you are leaving for the day, I just wouldn't chance it. His pancreas seems to be kicking in and even a tiny dose of insulin could take him low.

Don't shoot!!!! Numbers look great...maybe Mr. P is ready to help out!

Had a break in my work and ran home to test him, dropped a bit more to 137. Still no insulin. Will run back home at 4pm to test again. and then back to work again :P

Up to 235 at 4pm, so I shot 0.5U instead of 0.25U. We'll see how that goes at nadir, hopefully it will sustain him until the morning!
