Hey all~~ so we're going on a week since his last vet visit. He's still showing negative ketones and super active which is great. He'a still running high with his blood glucose. Amps today was 547 but dipped down into the high 200s a few hours later. Going to up his dosage .5units on my day off this week so i can be home to monitor. It would seem his pain med injection is starting to wear off. Noticing him favoring one side of the mouth again so im going to ask his vet tomorrow for either another injection or if theres an oral pain med i can give him at home. He's still got a pretty voracious appetite since he'a still not regulated which brings me to my question. He's enjoying his wet food but he really misses the dry food. Has anyone tried young again in the zero formula? I saw that its less than 1% carbs according to the website. So i was wondering if it is good if i could possibly do that for one of his meals every few days just to mix it up.

I was just wondering how oj was doing! Glad to hear the ketones are still negative, bummer that the mouth is still a problem.

Looking at his spreadsheet, I'm not seeing any numbers. Are you having problems with that (you are using a phone, correct? I can't be of much help there, but I'm sure others around here can)? We would normally recommend dose changes in 0.25U around here, but I'm hesitant even with that without seeing the data.

It should be possible to give oral bupe at home, but it'd be better to get that tooth taken care of. Are there any dental specialists in your area? It's possible for even unregulated cats to have a dental (sometimes, it's the dental issues that are preventing regulation!), but you'd want to have someone with experience doing it.

In addition to the Young Again, there's also Dr. Elsey's Clean Protein dry food while you're transitioning.

I had someone help me with the spreadsheet but i got a copy of it after this had been posted so i still need to fill it out.
And thanks. Im wondering if his numbers are going back up because of the pain in his mouth too. He was up this morning when i left so i checked his blood and at +9 he was already up to 646. Last night he drank nonstop after his injection so i was like maybe he pee'd a lot making the insulin less effective? Idk if thats a possibility or not

I've used young again. My cat ate it about a year but then it started giving her terrible digestive issues. My other cat can't even eat two kibble without getting diarrhea for a couple of weeks. So if you want to try it I suggest you write and ask for a free sample first.

Thank you. My guys were all on mostly dry so its more what he's used to. We separate him so the other kitties still eat it but i can tell he misses it

My other kitties have wysong epigen 90 available. It's under 10 carb... I give my diabetic a few here and there as a treat.
