Oj hit his first blue!

Omgosh y'all im so excited. This morning for his amps he shot at 491. Was active and had a decent appetite so i did the 2.5 dose again. Went back to work and when i came home he was RUNNING around which he hasnt done in a long time. He hadnt had any other smaller meals while i was at work so i figured i'd check his blood and give him a snack of boiled chicken. Well, at 7+ he was at 113!!! This is the lowest he's been since being diagnosed and im really hoping im not getting my hopes up. The vet said the gabapentin acts as a calming drug as well as pain relief. While his eating still is a bit off, (by that i mean i can tell its still slightly bothering him) maybe its got him feeling super chillaxed?? He stole the entire chicken breast and ran off with it before i could even shred it so he's feeling amazing. I do have some vet appointments lined up for him next week. Everyone wants to do an exam before they give me an answer on the tooth but im hoping his numbers stay like this and i have no problem getting someone to take the case. I havent gotten a urine sample since around 7am this morning (its 5:30 now) but it was trace so hoping with his low numbers he's now in the negatives on that.

113 on an AT2 is a solidly "normal BG" number! Yay OJ!!!! No wonder he's feeling zippy!

I would keep testing this afternoon-- you don't want him going much lower than that. And start thinking about how you are going to handle it if he stays low around pre-shot. You don't want to skip insulin with a ketone-prone cat, so you may have to strategize with extra carbs in order to get the shot in.

That's for later, though. For now, stick to the usual routine and just keep testing to see where he's headed. Go OJ!

Im so amped. I did notice the ear that i pricked today has been bleeding a lot. Could that have anything to do with the number or its going to be the same regardless of the drop size?? The last few days i've had to prick a couple times to get blood but both pricks today instantly pooled up.
But yes thats one thing i havent had to deal with yet. I have been doing .5 lower at night just because everyone is asleep and i dont want him to go hypo even though he hasnt even been close. Most his pmps numbers are in the 500s. But he's never been this low so im not sure. I definitely have higher carb wet food because originally i was only looking at the protein not the carb. Or i could maybe give him some kibbles that he's been missing to keep him a little higher. I still have roughly 4 1/2hrs till that shot so i'll definitely be posting again for advice if its still very low

Grab a test at +11.5 (and also one at PMPS).

Will do! And yes!! Im hoping it stays like this. Trying really hard to not get my hopes up but i've had such a bad month(one of my lizards passed, one of my feral colony cats got hit, his diagnosis and vets every week) i've been feeling so defeated and that im doing a terrible job for him, seeing that number today really brightened my whole life lol
