Can someone please look at my spreadsheet? Tomorrow will officially be two weeks that I stopped giving Sheba her insulin. The top highlighted part is before I started home monitoring.

Also, I'm going out of town today for a week. My mom is scheduled to come twice a day to feed her. She initially agreed to administer her insulin as well, but now we have taken her off the insulin. So, this morning she came over to learn how to test her blood. This stressed Sheba out and in turn stressed my mom out! (This is reflected in her higher reading this morning. Still under though.)

My other question is would it be okay if she went all week without a blood draw? My mom is willing to try, but we are not confident she will actually succeed. And if she attempts, would it be okay if she just tested in the evening? Sheba is easier to test in the evening. Or even just once for the week?

Thanks in advance!

Based on your SS Sheba should be fine without BG tst for a week. However, you mother should monitor urine output and wat gone if Sheba is only cat to look for higher output/drinking

Once a cat is OTJ, many people only test once a week. Some of us are testaholics and test daily, but it should be fine if your DM can't test every day. No need to stress them both out. The important thing is that Sheba gets enough food, and the right food only.

BTW, congrats on Sheba going OTJ!

Tricia ( or anyone ) can you explain the " get enough " food thing? My cat is also in remission and I posted a thread about food too. Wondering how much mine should have .

Sorry, @sherrib, I have been on vacation and not online every day. "Enough" food varies by cat. Mainly you want them to have enough to maintain a healthy weight. A diabetic cat needs enough food to help regulate his blood sugar - especially when he get his insulin. Sorry I'm not more help, but ECID.

Thank you for your repley, he isn't on insulin ( since Dec 5th ) I'm wasting so much food and can't keep doing that :(

Sherrib, how much are you putting down per meal? My cat sitter was the one who figured out that my civvie eats more overnight than through the day. So we now put down one cat Fancy Feast pate in the morning and two at night. Much less cat food going to waste now.
