morning. Oscar is now on 3units ProZinc 2x day. His pre meal BG numbers are crazy. This morning 550. Evening pre meal BG in 400s. I'm stressed and not sure what to do. He is eating FF classics and nothing else. Does this take awhile? 550 scares me

Yesterday It never got below 300. I checked every few hours. I have my spreadsheet I will download it. It seems like he just can't get regulated. Started one unit in April 2x day. Now 3. I am so stressed Is 550 going to hurt him? I want call out of work today again, but I stayed home with him Friday. I'll test before Inleave at 700

How long has he been on 3 units? It might need to be pushed a bit higher if it's been a while... But I let someone else who used ProZinc to comment on that.

Hi Laura, it does take some time, but to really know what's going on, we need to see the spreadsheet. Get that up and Sue and Rachel will be better able to help you. Don't worry too much about the high numbers. How is Oscar feeling?

Prozinc can be adjusted to work with the preshot numbers on a sliding scale basis, but you would need to have your data available. If you could get your spreadsheet set up with Oscar's numbers that would be most useful to figure out the best approach with the dosing.

Kitties are able to tolerate high numbers for a period of time, much better than humans are. However when a kitty is running in high numbers consistently it is advised to test regularly for ketones.

Thank you. 3 units just started Friday. He has never been 550. Oscar seems to be feeling fine. Before I left for work at 700 BG was 400 so it is going down. He was actually crying for more food. I gave him 1/2 can of FF and he did eat and then went to his perch for bird watching. I ordered the urine test strips but will run him to vet to let them check for ketones. The 550 scared me. On two units he was lingering in 350-400 so Vet had me go to 3. I will get the spreadsheet on today.

The spreadsheet will really help - can you set up a signature line as well (look at a few of ours - put Oscar's age, any comorbities, what he eats, etc anything that will help us help you

Hey Laura. Try not to let the high numbers worry you too much (easier said than done I know). No, they're not great, but they're not the end of the world. I believe we can help figure out what's going on...the spreadsheet will really help. Hopefully we can figure out some pattern and we can certainly help advise on dose with that.

Also remember that Oscar is more than just a number! 550 isn't great, but you said he is eating and watching birds on his perch and acting okay. That's important too. Sounds like he feels okay and you gotta focus on that some. :) Do check for ketones once you get the urine strips just to keep an eye on things in the high numbers, but it sounds like Oscar is doing all right. Breathe...we are here for you and we will certainly do what we can to help.

Thank you. I was trying to download spreadsheet. I had some issues. Also my vet now wants to switch to Lantus. I don't know. Pre meal bg 550 again this morning. 334 last night pre meal. But at lunchtime Yesterday i came home and it was 120. I'll work on getting the spreadsheet on here now

If you have trouble setting up the spreadsheet @Marje and Gracie can certainly help you with that. She is one of the "spreadsheet gurus" here. I have tagged her and when she is on line later in the day she will can give you a hand if you are still having trouble.

Getting that spreadsheet done with all your test will help show much better what is happening with Oscar and make dosing decision so much easier to make.

I'd be happy to do the spreadsheet for you. I will send you a quick private message. Just check your inbox in the upper right corner of this page.
