Thanks @Diane Tyler's Mom I hope so. I think I'll end up skipping though, she's now an hour post normal shot time and although I've taken the morning off, I'm running out of time to administer anything much without it pushing her PM shot too late for me to administer. She's had a cerenia so if I'm lucky she'll at least start eating before I have to go in to the shop.

Yes I would have skipped also, if she still doesn't want to eat would take her to the vet
 
I've got cerenia and mirtazapine at home, so she's had a cerenia this morning, if she doesn't improve she'll be there tomorrow morning at the latest, but I'm hoping I got it fast enough that the cerenia will sort her out. Thank you for your kindness!

I'm praying the meds will work and she'll start eating for you :bighug::bighug::bighug:
 
First, please remove the 911, this is not a medical emergency.

You can always give a half dose. Cats undergoing anaesthesia who cannot eat, can still get half a dose. Insulin does more in the body than countering carbs. No food does NOT eat no insulin. If you skip, please try to get a ketones test in as soon as you can. Has she ever had ketones in the past?

Can you try assist feeding her a little? Some food in her can help her feel better, and she may feel more like eating more.

Try to get a prescription for ondansetron from the vet, it's usually a better solution for nausea than Cerenia.
 
Thank you Wendy. It wasn't just that she wasn't eating, but also that her AMPS was so low and I can't stay home all day to monitor her. I happily shoot when she doesn't eat when her pre-shot is her normal but the combo was and is terrifying.

Unfortunately I think it's too late now, it's been 2 hours since her normal shot time and I actually just realised I need to bring her shot time early tonight to start adjusting it for an event in a couple of days so I can't shoot late tonight, so I guess a skip it is. I hate that. I know I'm failing her.

She's only had trace ketones in the past, never been treated for DKA. I'll do a sugar and ketones test after this reply, I have a blood ketone meter.

I've never done assist feeding and I'm not really sure how. I do have a tin of Recovery food and some syringes from her last bout of pancreatitis but we never used them.

I'll ask about the osansetron. Getting oral cerenia for home was an absolute uphill fight, so I'm not sure what it will be like getting that one but I'll try!

Bg is 12.2 and ketone is 0.4 at nearly +3. The small amount of pet milk is probably affecting her bg, I think it's pretty high sugar. She's currently on the bed with me with a bit of milk on her chin and purring happily. I have to leave in 20 minutes so I'm about to ruin that by giving her mirtazapine which is an awful capsule to get into her, but worth it.
 
I wasn’t home today. It does sound like pancreatitis. Did the cerenia help at all? I hope you can get some ondansetron to try. Do you think she’s in pain as well?
 
I'm not sure if the cerenia has helped yet, I was only able to stay home for a couple of hours. I spoke to the vet and gave her a mirtazapine just before I left, when I left she was sulking under the bed as the mirtazapine capsules are awful to administer. But before that she was purring curled up on the bed with me, and doesn't seem to be in pain. I'm hoping we will get home and find that the combo has worked and she's smashed through her food. She is taking a small amount of cat milk so I've dosed a dish with a but of gabapentin so hopefully she gets some of that into her. She did eat yesterday, so we have responded quickly and fingers crossed that helps. Thank you!
 
I have not long been home and I'm so over the moon, Minerva ate everything I left out when I left and licked her bowls out, including the pet milk with gabapentin in it! That's 1.5 tins of Fancy Feast, a few freeze dried snacks, and some pet milk. All in 9 hours! I'm so so so relieved. I'm not sure how long I'll have to keep up the meds but what a relief, I was very panicked and worried this morning. Thank you to everyone who helped! It is so much appreciated.

What fantastic news!! Good job Minerva :cat: It's amazing what antinausea meds can do... and they don't have scary side effects so you definitely shouldn't worry about using them as long as needed.
If she needs them for more than a week I'd definitely ask your vet to test for pancreatitis, which can cause abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, all the fun symptoms... When it's chronic it generally requires long term management with pain meds and antinausea meds.
