? Nov. 14/19 - Freckles - 257 PMPS - dosing advice please

I'm thinking that we need to increase Freckles' dose to 2.5 starting tomorrow?

She is eating 4.5 cans of FF/day. She eats at shot time, +2, +4.5, +7, +9 the same amount of FF each meal. She is still extremely hungry ALL the time but seems a bit more content since I increased her daily consumption by 1/2 can per day last weekend and feels like she's gained a little bit of weight (last weekend she weighed 8 lbs 14 (4.03kg) and I'll weigh her again this weekend. She is still quite thin behind her ribs though.

Thoughts on dosage and/or feeding schedule/amount eaten?

Thanks in advance!:)

First off, though I read World BG, a lot of the people who can help here with dose are unilingusl and only read American BG. Best to post with the values on the US tab of the spreadsheet.

Since you are following SLGS, any chance of a curve or at least some mid cycle checks in the next day or two? Every time you do a fur shot, it depletes the depot, which can take six cycles to rebuild. The mid cycle checks you have done on this dose were too soon after the fur shots so not representative of what this dose can do.

As for food, best to give all or at least most of the carbs before nadir. Any carbs given after nadir, when the insulin is naturally waning, can slam the brakes on its action, shorten duration and give you higher preshots. Maybe replace the +9 meal by something zero carb or freeze dried meat?

Thanks Wendy. When I look at Freckles' spreadsheet, BG levels are in both spreadsheets - world and US. If I have to manually transfer something to the US spreadsheet, I do. Do you only see the World BG?

I will be able to do mid cycle checks tomorrow (Friday) night and Saturday during the day.

I can replace the +9 meal with zero carb or freeze dried chicken. Thanks for the tip.

Chris is right, you just need to put the US numbers in your posts and headings.
Ok. I've changed the heading of the post to reflect the US measurements. I've changed Freckles' +7 and +9 meals to be 0 carbs FF. All of Freckles' meals throughout the cycle are of the same portion. I'm wondering if Freckles should be eating more at her shot times and less during the cycle (but keeping the total overall amount that she eats during a day the same) to avoid possible inflation of test numbers due to food influence? I was keeping her eating the same amount in each of the several meals throughout the day because she is soooo starving all the time.

There is no right or wrong with feeding, it's what works best for the cat.

I fed a main meal at amps and pmps in our case that was 3 ounces then one ounce three times a day, usually at +2 +4 +6 (when he was on insulin), the idea is that as he often onset early between one and two I wanted to make sure he had a good amount of food in his system to counteract the insulin as it onset, to avoid him diving. This seemed to work best for us, and helped to flatten his BG out.

When are you currently feeding?
