Ham's BG is 49 at +7. Not freaking out yet! Gave 2 spoon fulls of gravy food. How long will it take to get into his system??? At +6 he's BG was 56 gave a can of fancy feast and it still went down.
If he's only at 45 you need to give him another teaspoon or two of gravy, wait 20 minutes, then retest. You only stop the little snacks when BG is above 50.Now he's at BG 45 gonna wait 20 min without food and gonna check again
Now that he's at 66 you can test again in 20 minutes or so without giving food to see if he's holding. He's at BG 66 now. I don't have his AMPS for today due to the fact my neighbor gave him his insulin and Ham doesn't like strangers and he just growls and hisses at her when she tries. She said she almost got it today but he shook his head and she lost it then he got fussy.
My work is being goofy with my schedule last week 2nd shift this week 1st and who know for next. I think it would do more damage to keep changing his schedule to match mine.
Okie dokieNow that he's at 66 you can test again in 20 minutes or so without giving food to see if he's holding.
Good! For safety's sake no food and retest in an hour. He's at 87 now. Phew we made it.
The thing is, shooting blind (without testing first) is like Russian roulette. My work is being goofy with my schedule last week 2nd shift this week 1st and who know for next. I think it would do more damage to keep changing his schedule to match mine.
I am out the door 6 hours before his AMPS. I normally work 2nd shift but our Texas facility is under water which lead to us needing to make some changes. And like I stated earlier this change might be only for this week and I think if I change Ham's schedule this week but have to change it back next week it would be more damaging then goodThe thing is, shooting blind (without testing first) is like Russian roulette.
How many hours ahead of AMPS do you have to be out the door?
Hmmmm....I've tugged on a few sleeves about your schedule situation. We want Ham to be safe and for you not to have to worry that he may not be. BBLI am out the door 6 hours before his AMPS.
