Hi everyone,

My cat Taz has been in remission for about 2 months now. Her BG range is steady, between 80-95. She lost about 5 pounds and I am having trouble getting a little weight back on her. She is down to 7 1/2 pounds and could use a pound back. She is on canned DM diet and is eating a can a day, but that is a struggle to get her to eat a full can. I'm feeding her 4 times a day. She has also been vomiting for the past week, very late a night.

Any input will be helpful

Thanks
Dawn and Taz

Vomiting could be
- acid stomach - 1/4 tablet of plain Pepcid 20 minutes or so before eating may help this; ask your vet.
- pancreatitis - the test for this needs to be done after an 8-12 hour fast
- food allergy - there are blood tests for this; avoid a particular protein for several weeks to see if the problem stops is another method. Chicken is a common allergy according to my vet.
- etc.

DM is partly a weight management food I gather, so your girl might benefit from another ultra low carb food for a while perhaps? My boy loves Bozita particularly.

Taz is 11 years old. She was on Lantus insulin for about 2 weeks after xmas. That seemed to kick her pancreas into working normally. She has been great since but lost alot of weight and has not put any back on yet. She is active and absolutely normal in every way. ( my little pest). I check her BG weekly and it is always in the 80-95 range.

Have you tried Fancy Feast for her Panthers newly diagnosed in December and was already eating FF it's safe for her it could be the food

None of my cats will eat the DM, I feed them Friskies and Fancy Feast Pates and my diabetic cat went into remission on those foods, I would switch, your cats will like better and they are much cheaper.

I just posted this in another thread.

Edwin recently had some issues not eating after a food change. Here are some links to some pages that offer a whole spread of possible changes that might help.

How To Stimulate Kitty's Appetite

Tempting Your Cat To Eat (from Tanya's CKD site)

Hopefully something in there might help you too. I'm trying to get Edwin to put some weight back on too. The first step in that is, of course, trying to get your cat to eat more.
