Not eating..

I'm back! I'm worried about Teddy again. For the last three days he won't eat any food, and for the last week and a half he would only eat a bite or two. Also, although he had gained weight and has a chubby belly, I'm beginning to be able to feel his shoulder blades and spine too weel again. Lastly, he takes the steps one paw at a time - like little kids do because it's too far down to step the way adults do. Any thoughts??

This does not sound good. Can you get him to the vet? Diabetic cats have to eat (your last post you were giving ProZinc?) The symptoms sound very worrying and should be checked out by a vet.

Same here, take him to a vet. I recently lost a beloved cat to fatty liver because I didn't realize she had stopped eating .... until it was too late. A cat not eating is serious and could turn deadly quickly. Take him to the vet, ER, anywhere where they can test him and get him what he needs.

Take him to the vet but you can also try the Fancy feast appetizers. I have found that most cats go after them because of the odor. I don't smell it but they seem to. He needs a vet but the FFA may help stimulate his appetite again. The chicken and the tuna seems best for cats that are not eating. It has a tuna smell but the chicken mixed in is a little more gentle on his stomach. The salmon also seems to have a smell they like.

PS the appetizers are not meant to be fed in place of cat food on a regular basis it does not have everything a cat needs in it but most cats do love them. They are usually around the food but more in with the treats in plastic containers. they have juice etc in them.

I brought Teddy to the vet today, and it's a good thing. They tested his blood and all they could say was "wow." Also, he is very dehydrated and they gave him fluid through an IV. They are keeping him there today and tomorrow so they can test him throughout the day and try to get him back on track. I don't understand it.... a couple weeks ago he was perfectly happy and chasing invisible fuzz balls around the house. And being dehydrated... I've seen him drink water, though not as much as he usually does. My poor Teddy. They had mentioned something about pancreatitis, does anyone know anything about that??

There have been many discussion on this forum about pancreatitis. You can easily find them by using the search function the upper right.

I searched pancreatitis, and there was one discussion that sounded exactly like Teddy. The not eating and sleeping alot and the lip smacking.. I didn't even realize that was relevent! Is it a really serious thing to have in addition to his diabetes? I love my Tedster... I just want him to be ok.
