I dropped Gizmo off at the vet for boarding Monday afternoon since I would be out of town the next day or so, and without anyone to care for him during that time.

He ate most of his breakfast on Monday, but refused to eat at the vet (all day Tuesday and Wednesday morning). We brought him home Wednesday afternoon, and he ate the tiniest amount of dinner. However, he's continued to not eat today. The most I've been able to get him to eat is a few Greenie treats post-glucose test this morning, and most of a piece chicken lunch meat this evening.

During this time, he's also not had any insulin, since he hasn't been eating.

I have food out and available to him whenever he might want it, and have even caved and offered dry food in hopes it'd entice him to eat. He acts vaguely interested (sniffing and a few licks) but simply refuses to eat actually eat most everything. He's still drinking and urinating normally--not excessively.

He vomited twice today, but when I called the vet (new vet since we moved and less awesome than the old one) they said to give him another day to readjust to being home before getting too concerned. But we're going on about 3 days without food and I'm worried, and can tell he doesn't feel great. Any advice or tips would be great, especially since my go-to enticement don't seem to working for me!

I hope Gizmo settles and starts to eat. Maybe baby food meat soup? Always works for Idjit. Only plain meat, no spices or seasonings.

Baby food meat and Science Diet a/d are our You -Gotta-Eat weapons of choice :) That and as Janet said , assist feed .

UPDATE:
Called our vet this AM and was told they didn't have time to see us today, suggested we call the specialist we saw a few months ago to see what they said. They said to go to local vet, so I called back to ask them to fit us anywhere...it wasn't possible and then the tech suggested it might be the weather change affecting him. o_O So we've found a new local vet because that is just absurd! He was in vet care, which yes is stressful for him, but came home dehydrated and vomited 7-8 times in 24 hours but "it's the weather." Gimme a break!

New doctor ran blood work and urinalysis. Everything came back good—no ketones or risk of DKA!—aside from his bladder being "pissed off" and inflamed, which it has done in the past due to stress, and his liver looking a little angry likely from lack of food/dehydration/stress as well. Gave him 100 cc of subcutaneous fluids, B12 injection and some anti-inflammatory medication to help with his bladder and hopefully boost his appetite. He also addressed my concern with NPH not working as it should and switched us to Vetsulin, 2u twice daily, and gave him his first dose this morning while we were in office.

Gizmo still hasn't eaten, but seems to be feeling a tiny bit better. More alert, tail twitching/flicking, and will sniff food again! Just noticed he's drooling with neck/chin scratches again, which he wasn't doing before, so taking that as a positive sign. Body seems to be utilizing the fluids he got, as he hasn't urinated outside the box (or at all), nor has he vomited since we've been home.

Good move finding a new vet that got right on the problem. Hopefully the new meds will get him back to eating, drinking and feeling better quickly.
