? Not a diabetic problem exactly...

I just had a baby who is now 12 weeks old (2 and a half months). Ever since he came home, our sugar kitty has been acting out. She has pooped out of her litter box in different areas of the house at least twice, which she has never done before ever, and she has also peed in various parts of the house, which she never did before unless she had a UTI. She doesn't have a UTI, it's not that kind of peeing.

We have really been trying to give her the attention that she wants, but it's very hard when we are dealing with a newborn. We really give her as much as we possibly can. We are getting to the point where we are considering re-homing her, which is a terrible option, as I have had her for 10 years, since she was a tiny kitten. Also, it would be hard to re-home a diabetic cat.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what we can do to remedy this situation? I can't bear the thought of not having her in my life, and something has to change!

Is she okay around the baby? Maybe try sitting down with the baby and Baby, giving her lots of pets and cuddles so she sees that the baby isn't "replacing" her in your affections? Or maybe play with her with her favorite toy while you've got the baby with you? Really anything to make her feel like the new baby doesn't threaten her position in the household.

We already do this a lot. Any time she comes to us when we have the baby, we pet her and love on her. We generally never chase her off except when she decides she also needs to be on my lap when I'm in the computer chair with him. There's only so much lap, you know? Also, she tends to put her butt in his face and/or swish her tail in his face when she's around him.

Another vote for Feliway, diffuser, spray and you can buy pheromone collars as well. I have all three, and they work well.
