Willow had her first dose of painkiller this morning, 0.19 cc of 800 mcg/ml bupe (in the cheek).
I think it was too much for her, because she just sat and stared and seemed sort of disoriented for quite some time. The good news is there was some slight purring when we patted her.
So when she started going under the bed again around 8 hrs later, I gave her bupe again but half the dose, just 0.1ml. While she didn't do the blank stare thing, it did really conk her out for a while.
I read others cats get lovey and affectionate with bupe cause they feel better. I'd settle for mobile :)
Is this normal? I don't know if it's helping with pain because she's sort of like a zombie. Thoughts?

Nikki

Kitties have all kinds of reactions to bupe. When my guy received an injection of bupe he stayed awake for an eternity and just sat and stared. Other cats get agitated and pace around.

It sounds like the dose is still a bit high for your little Willow if she's that conked out. Maybe try even a bit less the next time you need to give a dose?

CBD oil helps with Pain & nausea & a lot of other things

I use "CW Paws" for all 3 of my cats. It's strong & I trust the company that makes it. You can read a LOT about studies done on CBD OIL

The Stanley brothers own and run a medical dispensary in Colorado. The brothers developed a new strain of cannabis, which had minimal levels of THC, and was very rich in the non-psychotropic cannabinoid CBD.

TED lecture with Josh Stanley, one of the Stanley brothers who developed Charlotte’s Web strain.

There's a ton of people selling CBD oil so It's difficult to know where to buy it from. I use the one by the Stanley Bros because I read extensively about them & they are the ones that helped the little girl Charlotte Figi with seizures.

CW Paws cost more ($75 for 30 ml ) but I see it works for my cats. It's definitely gets them to eat when they go off their food. It's supposed to help with Nausea & pain also. I only use it a few times a week 3 drops in baby food or I've put it in SEB .

Thanks for the info, I do plan to look into CBD oil. Is it safe to ship in freezing weather?
I'm in Canada which just legalized, as well as Canada Post just stopped accepting shipments at the border, so can't order right now.
Thanks again, with love,
Nikki

Thanks, I'll try an even smaller amt this am.
Is there a minimum dose for effectiveness?

You should call & ask about the "freezing" weather when you order it. I started out conservatively & gave just 2 drops , 3 drops seemed to work best. Each cat is different. Yours might need more.

Best of luck with the CBD Let me know if it helps :)

The dose that was prescribed for Mia was .09ml every 8 to 12 hours. She is just a little larger than your Willow. I did not even give her that much, and it was enough. It makes her very skittish. When my Willow had it after a dental procedure, it seemed to make her restless. I wanted her to relax, go to sleep and heal, but she moved constantly.

We still have weird restrictions on CBD oil here, Nikki. I don't understand why but there it is ... o_O I'd back off on the bupe dose. Easy to do with the syringed liquid.

Hey Kris, well that's just weird and unexpected lol. Thanks for letting me know. I backed the dose to .05cc.

I wouldn't be too worried about a blank stare as long as Willow is still sitting upright, not panting and still responds to affection. Noah was on transdermal BUPE for 2+ years and never had issues with balance, vision or the stairs. Animals don't know what's coming when they're drugged so it's not fun, they just want some relief.
Since I used to have a long ponytail and was young once I kind of know what to look for. Noah was never stoned, he just wasn't miserable from dental pain.

Yet another bupe question... Gave her .05 cc at 9:45 am. She was a bit brighter thru the day but seems to be shutting down/getting quieter, though at least she's not hiding.
Is it ok to give bupe an hour or so early, or should I wait the whole 8 hours?
With love,
Nikki

With every 8 hour dosing, I'd try to keep to within 30 minutes of the schedule. My script when I used it was for 0.1ml every 12 hours.

Thanks, she actually went to sleep so we decided to wait and see...When she woke she was very alert and responsive and hungry! lol she even came to the living room and meowed at us for food :) she's definitely feeling better. So holding off bupe till 12 hours (vet said up to three times daily.)

Tomorrow if things still look good I'll switch to the Cerenia tablets( from injectable) and bupe.

Thanks again, with love,
Nikki
