Normal Glucose Vs High Ketones

Some advice please, I have just tested Amber for ketones via a blood meter and was 4.4 which is very high. Her BG was 7.2 normal. She is eating and a thing her usual self, she is drinking a bit more but that’s not unusual for her. She has no sickness, diarrhoea, tiredness/fatigue. I have just given her some Tuna and she ate it all, she probably would have had more if I let her!! I’m just worried on the ketones any help would be appreciated

Did you do a retest?
I would test your own blood for ketone if you are not diabetic or dieting that results in ketones.

Yes I did my other cat and she was 0.01 I also did myself and normal. Re tested Amber this morning and she was 5.4

I would contact your vet. If you catsis acting and eating OK I would not be too concerned. But not that cats on Bexacat and the similar drug can go into DKA at relatively low BGs compared to cats on insulin.

Hayley - I would err on the side of caution and contact your vet.

I'm not entirely clear regarding @Larry and Kitties comment about Bexacat since you're using Prozinc. He may have been providing a point of information but it wasn't clear, at least not to me.

The lastx entry in Amer's SS is Fed 2022. Thus it is not clear if Amber is still on insulin. If not on insulin them having normal BG and high blood ketones could be a problem.
