Noodle dental postponed; sudden foul diarrhea + tr. ketones?

In the past 24 hours Noodle suddenly developed really foul-smelling diarrhea. Several episodes and all out of the litter box. Plus, after going weeks with neg. ketones, he showed trace a little while ago so something is brewing, plus his +5 was higher than for some days. Off to the vet tomorrow. Are diabetic kitties more prone to diarrhea like they are to UTIs? Also, I forgot to ask and vet's office in closed but does anyone know how long a fecal sample can be kept, if refrigerated, before it is useless and if necessary, can the vet get one? Thanks for any help. Poor Noodle, I don't think he'll ever get his teeth done and his bean is about to have a nervous breakdown. :shock:

my understanding the only thing a fecal sample test is used for is to see if there are parasites (worms) in the feces. I don't think it "goes bad" either.

Googling shows that 24 hours is about the max for storing the refrigerated sample.

I saw a TV program about some rich guy who gets all of his eliminations analysed in order to monitor his health. He used to keep his stools in the freezer prior to sending them to the lab for analysis. :shock:

Well, I guess it takes all kinds doesn't it? Glad I wasn't a guest at his house rooting around in the freezer for a snack :-D
