I am sad and freaking out a little. Do I need to take my cat to the er vet to get her help? Her breathing is not right, she seems to be struggling. I don't know what they can do for her, but I know there is nothing here I can do for her.

that sounds like a vet visit to me - i don't know if someone here has experience with that, but to describe her as struggling to breathe . . . i'd go to the vet now.

I went and am back now with Chloe. They gave her the dexamethasone steroid injection. Her temp was 100.6(I think). Said her lungs did not sound like they were full of fluid so we opted not to do more x-rays. Will take her into regular vet Monday to get more x-rays and compare to the first set(since I forgot to get the original ones on disc, which would have been helpful for this very situation). Can go back to er if she is worse. She was NOT open mouth breathing, just breathing noisily and quicker, shorter breaths. Don't know if I am describing this correctly. She did not want treats when we came back, which is unusal. Will be awake with her most of the night to make sure she is okay. Not sure what even prompted this except she was coughing/ hacking earlier but then seemed to be okay. Then we left for my office Christmas party and came back and she was worse.
