So, I have been meaning to do this for awhile now, but today, since my plans to go out for errands got sidetracked (babysitting) I decided to test a few of my other kitties for sugar, just in case. I started with the two most overweight ones, got a 40 and a 52 for those two... clearly not diabetic I'd assume, but ... isn't that kind of low? I thought 'normal' was 80-120ish.
The third one I tested was also a 40, not overweight but cries often (pretty sure it's bad dreams from a situation a couple years ago, where she got out of the house and we couldn't find her... returned 13 DAYS later light as a feather and dry as a bone, smelling like a garage, where I assume she got trapped... I'm so lucky I didn't lose her, but now she wakes up crying frequently)
My question is mostly... should I continue on and check all my cats even if they didn't have any 'symptoms' or pre-disposition (like overweight) Or should I just assume the rest of them are as ok as they appear to be? Are 40s normal in cats not on insulin? Or am I just seeing meter variance? Do I need to go buy a second meter to be sure this one isn't just reading low? I'm worried about trying to regulate Frog if the meter isn't right.
