My 7 year old Maine coon has been on prednisilone 2.5 mg every other day for 5 years. A month ago he had a diarrhea flare and the vet did every day for 2 weeks. He started drinking and peeing more. Yesterday he was diagnosed with diabetes. Not sure if the prednisilone triggered it so we are trying to cut back to see if it helps. His bloodwork 4 months ago was perfect. His is also on the hill Zd food which is high in carbs. My boys won’t eat can food so it’s going to be a challenge finding something that will help with both the ibd and diabetes. Any advise would be appreciated. I am freaking out! 🥲

How was your cat diagnosed with IBD? There are options to Z/D that can help. Freeze dried or air dried raw comes in crunchy format with novel proteins. And maybe some ideas in this post:
Another option for diabetic cats is using the steroid budesonide instead of prednisolone. Budesonide is more locally acting in the gut, less impact elsewhere. My girl was on budesonide and it did not impact her diabetes, though it does for some cats.

Is your kitty on any probiotics? Visbiome is one brand that can help. S. boulardii is a probiotic fungus that can help with diarrhea episodes. More reading (sorry) here: Probiotics – IBDKitties

ZiwiPeak and Stella & Chewy's are two brands that make either freeze or air dried raw with novel proteins.. Do you know if your cat will eat a raw food diet? That is an option, as well.
