My power has been off since around midnight last night it is below freezing outside. What I am wondering is my insulin safe to give a shot to KitKat

It's fine :) As long as the insulin didn't freeze or boil, it's fine to use.

From https://docs.boehringer-ingelheim.com/BIAH_mktmaterials/Prozinc for Cats Full PI 2021.pdf:
Storage Conditions: Store in an upright position under refrigeration at 36-46°F (2-8°C). Do not freeze. Protect from light
As far as what I have learned since day one, is that ProZinc needs to be refrigerated, it's always in my refrigerator door, when I shoot Corky the insulin is cold, I am sure with the weather you are having, it's like having it in the fridge, It's even snowing here in Fl.:D:bighug::bighug::cat::cat:
Could you remove the 911 from your title please?

Thank you, I always thought it would ruin the insulin.

I thought the same thing, I called the vet it said it would be fine to use. This is a new 1 to me. I will see at 10:01 when I test Kit Kat.

Yes. It’s fine. Most likely your insulin is perfectly okay. We have had this happen to other members before. It was probably cool enough in the refrigerator. If the ProZinc looks okay and doesn’t have particles in it, it will be fine to use. It also cannot hurt KitKat

Just FYI, here’s the sticky note on power outages and insulin storage … below. Specifically, regarding ProZinc it says: “
  • Prozinc It is recommended to store Prozinc in an upright position under refrigeration at 36º- 46º F (2º-8º C). Do not freeze. Protect from light. Per contact with Boehringer Inglehiem Vetmedica- studies indicate Prozinc should stay stable up to 28 days at room temperature up to temps of 78 degrees F. Protect from light, store in box or in cupboard.”

You and me both I call them brain F —-s:D:D:D:D:bighug::bighug::cat::cat: and it occurs quite often
I had Buddy another diabetic on FDMB for several years. When he passed I was so upset that I did not get back on this forum. When some things are mentioned I think that I do not know this, but when I go back and look at whatever it is, I realize I do know. However, I have a lot of brain F---s too and Senior Moments also. Thank you, for helping.
