On the French FB group I'm on for feline diabetes, somebody mentioned using Nigella Sativa oil for her cat when it started showing signs of "insulin resistance". The effect was dramatic and the cat ended up in remission. One data point, but my interest is tickled.

I googled a bit:

- http://www.imedpub.com/articles/eff...-noninsulindependent-diabetic-guinea-pigs.pdf
- http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0113486
- https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21675032

Does anybody know more? Has anybody used this?

I haven't heard of it, nor of anyone trying it, but that is really interesting! Thank you so much for linking the research articles. Did the person who try it do so on their own or at the recommendation of the vet? Have others in the group tried it yet?

I think she did so on the advice of a phytotherapist (human or vet, I don't know...) -- not sure others in the group have tried it.
