nice surprise at +7+8

We usually don't test much after +6, because we find that Fa has nadir at +5 most of the time, and +6 is usually higher than +5.

Today we got amps at 358, +4 at 272, +7 at 196 and +8 at 187.

As we have come up to 5u and with such a high dose, we are worried what if Fa went too low without us around. For this reason, and also since we can during weekend, we tested +7+8 and had this nice surprise. When I tested her on +4 this morning, i thought its getting to nadir at +5.

We are not sure if this has anything to do with the shorter needle 8mm 31g we just started using again last night. We used it before and thought it was not as effective as the longer needle 12.7mm 28g. The link below was our last post regarding the syringe change from long needle to short needle, then back to long needle.

Any thoughts and suggestion are appreciated.

I'm not sure the syringe would make a difference...it could be that the depot is full. You're doing a good job testing :)

Thank you. I am not too sure either but when we used the 8mm last time, it seems BG was not as good as when using 12.7mm. But we did not test for after +6 back then.

A few more tests where you haven't tested may tell the tale. I prefer the shortest needle I can find - after I once pushed the longer needle right through to the other side ...the insulin dripped down the other side of her skin/fur ... I went shopping for the shortest needle I could find after that.

That's why we decided to change to 8mm when we did the increase this time. I just did a fur shot before the change.

Last time we used it for three days but felt that it made a difference compared to 12.7mm when on the same unit, maybe syringe batch difference.

Good idea to test at different times, it will give you a better picture of what she's doing specially when they start on higher doses!
I use shorter needles also! I'm not sure also that the syringe makes a difference; as you know, there are so many factors impacting BG!
Hoping for some more nice surprises for you ! :)
