Newly Diagnosed, Very wobbly and unsteady after vet visit.

Hey GOOD LUCK with the drinking part. I will be watching this thread to get tips on drinking. I live in the LOW desert. Zoe is an innie outtie kitty and she hardly ever touches her water dish. She can be outside all day long in 120 degrees and doesnt touch her water.:rolleyes:

When My Waldo (avatar kitty) was sick I resorted to sprinkling Parmesan cheese on his food BUT that cheese is very salty. I was desperate to get him to eat so I used it and that worked for a time.

I think on top of everything Loki might have some dental issues or something wrong with his mouth, I've noticed a crunching noise when he's eating and it's very soft food. It looks like he may be eating one side as well, oh god .

Thank you, annoyingly the vet didn't say anything about his mouth when he checked, I don't know if that's good or bad , the vet gave us some meloxidyl to give him which is a pain killer and anti inflammatory drug.

We're still struggling getting him to eat much so we've desperately tried to find some kibble to try but I'm struggling to correctly calculate the carb content , would you be able to help me with this please.

I know, same here, I specifically mentioned about the teeth grinding, he just said we need to concentrate on one thing at a time which I do understand but it still needs to be properly looked at (that's what I think anyway)
 
Those foods look pretty good, they're likely very low-carb. It's tough to get the exact amounts without calling the company and badgering them-- the numbers on the label aren't always exactly what you need (dry matter vs. as-fed numbers, minimums and maximums instead of precise amounts, etc.). But I think you're good with those!

Dental woes are a common cause of raised BGs, in fact it's one of the most common reasons why a diabetic cat will fall out of remission. And on top of that, they are often super-painful (even though cats are good at hiding that kind of thing!). If it were me, I'd insist on getting him checked out, and try to schedule a dental. I might even look around for a different vet for the dental give that yours is so casual about the whole thing. It's a little awkward since you just took him in, of course. Maybe see if there's a dental specialist you can take him to for a consult, see if they'll take diabetics and what they recommend...
