Hello! I’m a 14 year old recently diagnosed with diabetes kitty. I’m a bit overwhelmed bc I’m a very picky eater and my mom is trying hard to find me a food that I like that is also low carb. I won’t eat ANY pate and I prefer chicken, but I’ll eat turkey and duck sometimes.
I had surgery about 10 months ago for an anal gland rupture so I also need a high fiber food in addition to a low carb/diabetic friendly non-pate wet food. Everything that is higher fiber seems to be bad for diabetes.
My vet recommended Hill’s Prescription M/D but I thought it was gross and my mom noticed pork was one of the main ingredients. It also has carrangean which isn’t supposed to be good for kitties and can affect glycemic levels. I don’t understand why all the prescription foods have this!
If anyone has any advice for this newbie, I sure would appreciate it. I’m trying to stay pawsitive, but it’s hard. My favorite food before I got sick was Natural Balance plateful Chicken with pumpkin. I’m currently taking 1 unit of Pro-zinc twice a day.
