Treat recommendations - newly diagnosed diabetic

Hi everyone,
My cat Charlie aged 11 has just been diagnosed with diabetes and is now on a long lasting insulin injection twice daily.

What treats if any can get have...
And does anyone here cook their cats food rather than store bought food.

For treats I feed 100% meat freeze dried cat treats (chicken, and salmon, and beef) and sometimes I boil chicken breasts or cook a steak with no spices and cut them into little pieces and then put what I don't use right away into baggies and freeze them for future. I also sometimes buy already cooked large frozen shrimp and thaw a few out in some cold water and then then slice those up into cat bite sized pieces. I have a couple of times brought home a cooked lobster from the grocery store for my last diabetic J.D.'s birthday.
Right now, I am getting some home grown catnip ready for storing, picking out the stems and adding the super duper smelly flowers to dry. My cats are loving it and racing around the house.
Recently, I've been adding cut up hard boiled eggs to my tunafish sandwichs, and Jackson loves a few bites of the cooked egg whites.
 
My cat’s favourite low carb snacks are churu tubes which I believe are 8-10% carbs, at 6 kcal/tube. She also likes freeze-dried fish like salmon and anchovies, and she also loves when I drain the water from a can of tuna (unseasoned, no salt added, just in water). I’m pretty sure the tuna water is as close to zero calories and zero carbs as you can get. We also keep temptations treats around, which are higher in carbs, in case we need to get her blood sugar up, it’s there as an option if she’s being picky.

Any store bought 100% freeze dried meat or fish treat is fine. Some popular brands include PureBites, Northwest Naturals, and Vital Essentials.

Churus and other similar lickable treats are popular too.

Plain cooked chicken or other meat is good. You can poach something like skinless chicken breast in just water, shred the cooked meat up, and freeze what you won't use within a few days.

@Staci & Ivy does a special cooked diet for her cat. Most people who don't need a specialized cooked diet use a pre-mix such as EZComplete with meat of their choice. I'm not sure what pre-mixes are available in Australia. @Bron and Sheba (GA) is located in your country and may know.

I cook for Ivy. I use a recipe a veterinarian nutritionist formulated for us. It’s lamb with yams/sweet potatoes as the carb. It’s a 6% carb recipe as her main diet.

Here is a link to an Australian website that sells a supplement that completes nutritionally a meal when you are feeding a raw or cooked homemade diet for cats.

They also have freeze dried treats for cats.

I feed my cats a homemade raw diet and use meat which I buy at Woolworths in the meat department. It is human grade meat and it is still cheaper than buying canned cat food.
