@Bron and Sheba (GA)

So after multiple phone calls I managed to get through to a Sanofi rep who has now posted out for free two JuniorStar pens. After another check with Chemist Warehouse and speaking to a different pharmacist they do indeed sell the cartridge for the JuniorStar under the name Optisulin. I had been saying to the last pharmacist Lantus which of course got phased out in 2020 and replaced with Optisulin so didn’t realise they wouldn’t realise what I meant ‍♀️ my fault totally.

So all of that is on its way. After looking myself for those U-100 0.3ml 31G Half unit syringes, you’re all right it’s impossible to not only find but also ask for international delivery. I tried a few USA and UK suppliers but no go not even the makers of the syringes can ship it to Australia.

I should be fine for half doses as long as it’s 1 unit and above but still on the hunt for those syringes with half units in the event I need to draw a 0.5 dose. I’m he regular needles are still on the way but I’m also gonna to try my cousin in the UK to see if she can help me source and post some across so I don’t need to bother you @Bron and Sheba (GA)

Ernie’s reading this morning was a bit better than normal at 15.8 so he’s been given the 2 unit dose. He’s still up and down with his appetite because of the FLUTD issue and yesterday he was having the pee issue still and cried a little so I think he needs stronger pain meds. I’ll see how he goes because he does manage to do a decent pee after second attempt. Appointment is on Monday with the vet again.

I wondered when you are calling it lantus still in Australia and not optisulin...I should have mentioned it too. never mind. Looks like it is all sorted. Fantastic. Your cousin should have no trouble getting the correct 1/2 unit syringes in the UK. Just make sure she gets the exact ones
U100, 3/10ml, 30 or 31 gauge, 6 or 8 mm insulin syringes with 1/2 unit markings. BD brand is probably the best to try for.
I would definitely push to start the cartrophen injections...poor baby

Definitely need to revisit this pain issue. I’m not sure the vets were keen on using cartrophen for some reason so I’ll revisit that question again with them.

Do you know if it’s ok for people to post syringes in the mail from another country? I’m guessing as long as they declare them as medical supplies that it’s ok? As well as not in large quantities

I can’t see why it would be a problem because we used to be able to get a box of syringes sent from the UK before covid with no problem.
