 I was so excited to be here and to get advice that I just jumped and and forgot my manners...sorry....

Bobbie is our sugar girl and she is special. She is a tabby bobtail with beautiful green eyes. We have 5 other kitties- her brother Judah who is orange. Their late mom was a Wal~Mart parking lot rescue I nursed back to health and got these 2 in return. They are 6 yr old. All our cats are rescues. After our senior kitty died of cancer a few years ago, we decided after caring for her that we needed to adopt a special needs kitty so we found Sadie at our local Humane Society. Sadie lost his eyes before they ever opened when they ruptured due to an untreated infection. So He doesn't have a clue that he can't see and nothing slows him down...unless we forget and leave a laundry basket in the middle of the floor. he is yellow, and almost 2.

Little bit, I call my Chihuahua cat as she is prone to hysterics and if I am sitting she is usually on my lap and she sleeps with me.She is very nervous. She is white with black spots and has a crush on Judah who does his best to ignore her. Harriet is a tortie and she and Bit were dropped off at our house. Harry was pregnant and had Bert under our porch. He is solid black and has a Barney Fyfe complex..he struts around like he is the alpha male but if you say,"Boo!" he will run and hide.

We noticed Bobbie hiding and sleeping a lot and not wanting to eat. Got her to the vet and she spent a week there with pancreatitis. Then came the diabetis diagnosis.

The rest i have posted here.

I got wonderful news from the vet this afternoon. He is young but what he lacks in experience, he makes up for with concern. He said Bobbie's numbers are great and for us to keep doing what we are doing with her- no insulin unless the numbers go up. So we are excited and very happy about that!

It has been so great to have this place to come to to get information. I have had so many questions answered here.

the gang seems to be really good at sleeping!

No worries Becky, I am sure all of us were excited, among other raw emotions, when we first started too. I know I was.

That was nice of you to introduce the family, and thank you for sharing your photos! I am so happy for you and Bobbie!!

Becky,
Thank you for the pictures (the 3rd one especially is priceless) and the history of your flock. I was reading it and thinking "hey, I don't remember writing that"....let me explain.

My sugarcat, Bob is also a bob-tail. He however is grey. I also had a rescue feral cat whose eyes ulcerated right after birth. He had one eye removed and the other grew over completely with scar tissue, so he too was blind basically from birth. He looked sort of like he had one eye, so he was called "winkie". My choice was "cyclops" but I was overruled.

Unfortunate that Bobbie became a sugarcat, but fortunate that you found this place. It has made a world of difference to me and especially to my Bob in the two months we have been doing the sugar dance. The people here are incredible.

Welcome!

Becky,

What a beautiful family you have and the third picture looks so much like my Patches, they could be twins. I have a Bert as well, mine just happens to be a blue point siamese. He and his brother Casper were my gift from a Walmart parking lot rescue. Is it weird how many times we read the stories on how others come by their kitties and think...They could be writing my story...lol

So glad that Bobbie is doing well!!!

Yes, we do have some similar stories!
And there is seldom a dull moment with this crew!

our Bert started out his life as Ebony...we thought he was a girl and one day, out of the blue it was very obvious he wasn't, so my daughter in law suggested the name Ebert since it was close to Ebony and he became Bert. He does have issues. Even though he has only lived with us, he cannot stand touch and is extremely jumpy. He can be downright mean if you force the touch issue. In a shelter he would probably be unadoptable. But he is a good house cat. So we have learned to accept him for who he is...

Bobbie is becoming Bobbie again... this change came about so gradually that we didn't realize how much she was changing. I was awakened this morning just after 6 by a paw tapping my face. She was hungry right then! That used to happen a lot before she got sick. And she ate a whole can of Friskies! Then had a nap and followed me to my sewing room to "help"..life with Bobbie is good again!
