I've mostly been posting over in the PZI forum and working thru Robbie's dosing as best I can. If anyone out there cares to look at his SS and give me some input - I'm an hour away having just visited my dad in the hospital but my husband is at home and tested him.
He hasn't eaten much all day - not cause he didn't want it but because it wasn't given to him as he was still testing so high. He was just given 1/2 can of his FF food for dinner and is eating and seems OK. We can't pee test him, esp. with me not home. I hate to leave him that high but am not sure what to do. Thank you for any and all input.

I don't know your insulin so I can't say a thing on dosing but I would not hold back food because of high numbers.... that's a good way to have problems -- not enough food, not enough insulin, high numbers.
that's a good recipe for ending up in the ER with a sick kitty.
I would let him eat what food he wants until he's regulated.

Thanks Gayle - he tends to eat a LOT if we allow him - my husband was home to test him (normally wouldn't have been home) and he wanted food I just told him not to give it to him he'd had his "regular" meals -normally he would have given him a 1/4 of a can or so (pre-diabetes re-entry) so not holding back any regular meals just "snacks" he often begs from us if we happen to wander thru the house during the day. But Thank you, I'll remember that and be careful- he's having his full dinner now - appreciate the help. I think you were around when I was first here and helped during a "crash" or at least I recognize your name. Again - thank you.

ah ok that's good; I was worried there for a moment.

OK if you have a gobbler, then I bet an auto feeder would be just the thing for you ... divide up his daily amount of food into the 5 sections and get him used to waiting for the feeder to turn and offer portions.
Petsafe 5-meal Auto Feeder

You can likely expect him to eat more until he's regulated... My Ollie was eating close to 30oz a day before he got regulated and then once all settled, he dropped way down to maybe 10 or 12oz a day...

I am sure you will not see that begging so much once he's getting better BG and also feeling better.

Thanks Gayle - we have one of the feeders and I think it's a lemon cause neither of us can get the darn thing working. I had gotten it for a vacation during his honeymoon period (that's when he was in "remisison" right? trying to remember the jargon here) so he could eat smaller meals throughout the day which he not only enjoys but seems healthier on. It never worked right but I'm going to check it again and buy a new one if I can't get it to work.
Once we took him off dry and he got regulated and than OTJ he started eating the low carb FF like a starving man and since he didn't gain weight from doing so (once he gained back 3 of the 4.5 lbs he lost leading up to us discovering he was diabetic) we continued to feed him - he generally has been eating about 5-6 cans of FF in a 12 -14 hour period - not sure the ozs on that but it's a lot more than he ever ate when he also got 2 bowls of dry for free feeding every day (he only got 1 can of FF back than). Taking him off the dry food was one of the KEYS to getting his health back - and after many years at 22-24 lbs he stabilized at about 20-20.5 and has been pretty active and happy at that weight.

Water! Where is my brain!

I have always souped Ollie's food because he has never drunk water from a bowl... I don't know why.
If you want, you can trick him in a way that is to his benefit....
If you put 1/2 the amount of water as food, he will be filled up with the water and will likely not need more food.
I normally put 1 can of water to 1 can of food, equal portions, and he loved it.... lapped up the water and sometimes wanted more water mixed in!

Give it a try because the water is very good for him.

Oh Gayle sounds like we've been on the same path from time to time - we've tried the water in the food - he HATES it! LOL We still try from time to time and I will do so again but he generally kind of flings it around and cries and walks around complaining. My husband is determined this is the way to go in general (just so he's not eating as much) and keeps trying the 1/2 water 1/2 food - the main issue for me is we have to give him metimucil too and if you add the water it turns into jelly and than he really won't eat it. But for the inbetween meals we can try the water again and thanks for the inspiration.
