Things are a bit of a circus here. I recently got laid off but am being hired back on but the work hours are changing and possibly variable. From shoots based on the present time of of my old (still present) schedule of 4p to 12a it will go to 7a to 3p starting Monday (last minute advisement), though not complaining about that part I will be back working for a while again. I usually shoot at 1am and 1pm in the 12 hours range. If I have to work at 7am, how do I shoot in a safe range before leaving for work? Can a relaxed Lantus use possibly be balance this soon? I was considering PZI but wanted to also check here. Any advise would be appreciated!

Hi Mike,
OK my first question is what will your schedule be long term? Are you going to be working shift work or will you be changing to the 7a-3p permanently.

I have to think it's still only 8hr shifts so I am sure something could be worked out.

Sure you can adjust your shot times... you have from now till this coming Monday to change your shots from 1am/pm to what.... 5am/pm or something?

Once it's known what times you want for your new 12/12, you will get some suggestions.
I believe that some people even work 12hr shifts and can make a sort of exception schedule, or some work a few longer days, but something can be worked out.

For the moment I am not really sure. I know for the moment it's Mon to Wed. After that it could be permanent or I could be assigned a 2nd or 3rd shift. Will not know till Wed.

I am thinking you will need to write out a schedule, noting what days are what hours.
Wed to Monday, move your shot times closer to shot times for Monday, and also Tuesday and Wednesday?

Can you clarify what hours you will be working one what days.

At this moment it should be at 1am tonight to 1pm next day. I do have to be up early for a pre-screening and paper work tomorrow but I can handle that day with a short nights rest. Should be the same till next Monday, then I start 7a to 7p, at least for three days. For now that's all I know. But I assume I should start the change as soon as I can? But, the following days after Wed is still unknown yet.

You first said you would switch to 7am to 3pm but now you say it's 7am to 7pm?
Will you be working 8hrs or 12hrs?

If you are going to be working 12hr shifts, then PZI won't be any better, it would likely be worse because it lasts a tad less time than Lantus or Levemir.

If you start working at 7am, what's the latest you would be able to give a shot, maybe 6am shot and 4pm you would be home?

Sorry, I have been emailing and corresponding like crazy for the last few hours. It's 7a to 3p. My bad. ohmygod_smile

ok you are working 4pm to midnite and shots are at 1pm / 1am

You willl working from 7am to 3pm and you want to move your shots to 5am / 5pm?

That means you have to move the shot times by 4hrs ahead in 4 days.

One method:
Move the time 1hr each day... 30min each shot... shooting at 12.5 each day but you can't do that because you will be working.

Another method:
Skip that last 1am shot and shoot late.... at 4am or 5am?
then go to work for 7am, and come home to shoot at 4 or 5pm.

it all depends on whether you have short turnarounds on your shifts or not.

Good luck on whatever you decide, and should you need a sounding board, need to bounce off some ideas, just post again and we can work something out to fit what you guys need.
