New Wellness canned foods

I find the timing odd (but good) that so many are suddenly coming out with new at the same time... Avoderm has many new ones, Blue Buffalo & PetsMart's Simply Nourish have all arrived at my local Petsmart this week.

It sounds like they might be like the pouches, which are in lighter (read that more watery) gravy.

Yea, lots coming out with new... I am not surprised FF came out with the Cheese flavors, since they own Friskies too, and Friskies has had cheese flavors.

These have a lot of veggies in them... carrots, peas, tomato, broccoli. If you shop at PetCo, my cats love Soulistic. It's PetCo's private label but is made by Weruva. I like it for the simple ingredients, just the meat or seafood named on the can or pouch and nothing else. The pouches have a lot of gravy, which my cats love. Since I don't have any diabetic cats at the moment, I haven't thought too much about the carb content. Weruva's Cats in the Kitchen pouches passed the taste test here, too. They're very, very expensive though.

My civies love the Weruva pouches, too  The regular cans, too. They only get it once in awhile. A local store here currently has a 15% off sale on the pouches so I got one of each variety  You can get a box of 8 pouches and I think that's about $14 or so, too pricey to be part of the regular diet.

I agree that some brands of foods contain too many fruits and veggies. I think those are just to appeal to pet owners and get them to buy the food.

I think the reason so many companies are coming out with new flavors is that the moisture (water) content is higher than their old flavors. This is a way of making cheaper cat food without making the cans smaller and without compromising whatever standards (grain-free, by-product free, etc.) they have. The Weruva pouches, for example, have a max moisture content of 85%. Compare that to FF gourment chicken at 78%. It is not necessarily a bad thing to add more moisture, but you do end up paying more per calorie for the food

Neither of mine would eat the Weruva - if yours loved them - they will most likely love the Simply Nourish - same sort of style ;-)

I got a coupon the other day from Wellness for buy 3/get 3 free on the new cans. I might give them a try!

I got the coupon too and went to PetCo to try to find them. They haven't put them out yet I'm told.

I also second the Soulistic brand. Merlin loves it. It's also grain-free and cheaper than Wellness.

Soulistic is made by Weruva  Just a sort of inexpensive version of the regular Weruva and sold at Petco instead of specialty pet stores. http://www.soulisticpet.com/ The gelee ones (jelly/aspic) ones look ok for diabetics. The gravy ones are probably high in carbs.

I bought the new Wellness about a month ago.. Petco & Petsmart in my area both sell it.. not a hit with either of mine.. didn't care about carb content.. just wanted to give a new taste a whirl ohmygod_smile doesn't have much of a smell.. was really cheering this newness on.. cubed, sliced & minced.. versus pate.. guess I was the only one excited for it

I don't usually shop aat PetCo, as there isn't one close to me (there's a PetSmart & Pet Supermarket very close to me, plus a local pet store I would like to buy from, to help local business), but maybe next time i stop at Super Target for groceries, I'll have to hit the PetCo.

Cedric is turning his nose up at Evo's 95% beef, so I am returning the venison flavor, and have to return the other Wellness that has liver in it (#2 on ingred list, my bad). The minced in the OP's link don't have any liver at all, so I need to try it. I was so stressed at Pet Smart yesterday trying to find something on J&B's list that had NO liver in it. I am pretty sure Cedric is alergic to it.
