I'm hoping for a green today. A good mid green would be fine, Opie.
Right. Sorry. It's hard for me to keep straight everybody's feeding schedules. There are so many different people who are feeding so many different things. It's just that if I was trying to ensure a smooth cycle I would probably bring the food over to him at certain points to see if he would munch it when I wanted him to instead of relying on him to eat it whenever. Then I would put the food back in its usual place.

I totally understand this! As you know!with all our cats on different foods, we have separate bowls and feed each one when they ask for it only and then it is closed and put aside. Consequently, I am feeding him every hour or two all day long. If he doesn't ask, I bring it to him. He is very thin right now and I am hoping that better numbers will help him to keep weight on.
Not at all.sorry, I think I was repeating myself. . . had a rough day.
Excellent! And right on schedule at +6! So happy to see this!Opie has a green today!
I’m sorry about Larry having that problem. I suppose you feed him special food? Anything else? Urine acidifiers like cranberry? It is a urinary tract issue with Larry. Opie is staying yellow today.

Oh, it should! Just gotta wait for the bounce(s) to clear. Those green nadirs are what 2.5u really does when he's not bouncing. You'll know he fully cleared the bounce when he comes back down to those green numbers you've seen recently.Maybe the 2.5 will do it given time without more increasing.
Yes. He’s bouncing from the beautiful 72. Just wait. We will see blues and greens again on this dose. Of not, we can make adjustments… but I believe that we will!He was bleeding and peeing often 3 weeks ago and we put him on an antibiotic and started him on CD immediately. They said he doesn't have stones but he has a lot of struvites and no infection but inflamed. that was two days ago and he is bleeding again. It takes some time for the food to work. Haven't tried cranberry.
Opie is at 219 PMPS so I suspect he may go blue tonight. He is gradually going down. Maybe the 2.5 will do it given time without more increasing.
I’m so sorry I didn’t see this!! That’s scary. That would be an automatic dose reduction of .25 units.he sure came down. . . fell asleep and missed the +6 time but tested at +7.5 and he was at 29!!!!! Should the dose be the same in the AM?
Right. That’s why I didn’t say to reduce when he hit 72 because he’s on MPM and not SLGS anymore. So the reduction point for MPM is 50 (human meter.)He was at 72 several days ago and you never mentioned it. Yes we are on MPM and yes he is on only wet LC food.
Okay, so we have a plan now. Reduce to 2.25 tonight. Add MPM to you signature and to the top of your spreadsheet (when you get google docs access again.)
If you still don't have access to google docs later today, please post your test results here in the thread indicating what hour you got the test, etc. Okay?
Yes, I know that you asked about starting a new thread. I thought you were kind of stressed out at the time and I didn't want to add to that stress... I mean, there were much more pressing things going on with Opie at the time that I didn't want you to have to worry about starting a new thread. This morning, I noticed we had gone onto two pages (when I was scrolling back through the thread to see when we switched him over to MPM.) So it's not a big deal at all. I just figured that it could wait (the new thread.) Okay? And keep bugging me if I don't answer something and you want an answer. We get really busy on this Board. Even now, while I am typing this I'm getting pop ups telling me that I have another alert that I need to look at. I love helping with Opie for sure, but anything that can help me to remember the details like the food he eats and which dosing method -- in the signature -- helps a lot. And if someone else is helping you they'd need to look quickly at those things to get up to speed on the really important stuff.I have had MPM on the SS for some time now and I added it to my signature now as you requested. I will start a new thread when I post again. I had asked about that but had no response. I have also updated SS for today.
Another thing that I didn't want to stress you out about is your spreadsheet. I don't know if you know how to do this, but it would be so helpful if we could have Opie's various years' data on separate tabs -- a tab for 2021, 2022 and 2023. I also didn't want to bother too much about that initially. You had a great spreadsheet and that was already wonderful and I was so happy to see it. But it requires a lot of scrolling down to get to the most current data (really difficult when looking on a phone.) We do have a wonderful member here who helps people with their spreadsheets and I could tag her if you can't/don't want to mess with it.
By the way, what did you give him to bring him up when you got the 29? That is seriously a dangerous number. I hope that you gave honey/karo syrup right away. I don't know if you already did this, but because I don't know and because others may be reading this thread I will say this:
Karo syrup (or honey) should have been given immediately (rubbed on his gums if possible) and then you need to test again in 20 minutes and make sure his BG is increasing. Then you need to keep testing every 20 minutes until he's above 50 (human meter) and then every thirty minutes... to see if you need to keep giving high carb or not. Also, after high carb is given, you have to test for 2 hours after the last high carb food is given -- to make sure that he's up and will not drop back down when the carbs wear off. Karo/honey wear off quickly. High carb food will last a little longer. So after the karo is given, some HC food or the gravy from some HC food (like FF Gravy Lovers should be given because it will last longer.) But the karo will work more quickly so it's imperative to give it with a number that low.
That's okay. Better too high than too low. Besides, he probably helped by starting a bounce quickly. I'm glad he's okay! I'll go over to the new thread now.here is the link to a new thread. . . https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/working-with-mpm-to-get-numbers-down.278095/
gave him Karo syrup on his gums and then a few greenies. . . I think we gave too much because his numbers went to 288 very fast.
