Hello! Thank you for having this space where I can learn all the stuff the vet doesn’t have time for (or has no idea about!)
I am gathering as much info as I can before we begin insulin. My main question right now is regarding crunchy treats. My cat really, really enjoys them. What’s a great substitute that won’t interfere with our progress? ****updated to say I’ve seen all the freeze dried links. Not sure about those. He didn’t like the first brand I tried last year. Can’t remember what it was.
Thank you!

I was just going to say freeze dried ha! I also just posted about my cat’s 2 favorites on another thread. Minnie wouldn’t eat any of the beef or poultry options out there but she loves the PureBites Shrimp Freeze-Dried Raw Cat Treats and Vital Essentials Minnows Freeze-Dried Raw Treats. If the minnows work, you can get the dog version which comes in a bigger size and it’s a lil less pricey.
Welcome and good luck!!

Does the treat have to be crunchy?
When you say you've seen all the freeze dried links, does that include some of the freeze dried raw foods such as the Stella & Chewys or the Ziwipeak?

Any kind of pure meat or fish treat is fine. Cheese. Egg.
You could cook some plain chicken, then dry it out in your oven or a food dehydrator.
Quite the "aroma" if you dry out any kind of meat inside you home.

If you want to gather as much information as you can before starting insulin, letting us know which insulin can help us to point you in the right direction.

I us3d to use Young Again dry food as a treat. I also have a list

Halo Liv A Littles
Wild side salmon
OnlyNaturalPet.com all meat bites

you can always just use small pieces of chicken or tuna or whatever your cat likes.

Have you tried more than one kind of freeze dried treat? My cats all turned their noses up at any kind of dried fish (except bonito flakes), but love the freeze dried chicken. I also just boiled my Billy some plain chicken, which he loves, and he's always loved scrambled egg. Honestly, he used to be a kibble boy and loved crunchy treats, but he just doesn't miss it now that he's used to his new diet and new treats.
