New on Lantus... Updated stats

Hello!
My boy was previously on Vetsulin 2u/2x a day. I had gotten this insulin along with a big box of u40 needles. My funds were very tight so I continued to use those needles until they are gone.

Fast forward... I'm receiving assistance and had gotten the u100 needles and was dosing the Vetsulin pulling the insulin into the needle up to the bold #5=2u. Just 2 days ago I was given the Lantus to change my boy over to. I was told to dose him at .50u. I asked if this was the same as where I was dosing the Vetsulin and was told yes. But I've seen pics that look different. And to boot now I have to cut that dose in half to .25 (per them and the chart says 2.5) as it seemed it may have been too much. I hope that I didn't give him too much. :( I know I was clear on where I was drawing insulin back to in needle, but I'm confused.

I hope what I'm saying makes sense as to why I'm confused and need guidance.

NO!! ...a dose of .5 in a U100 syringe is only this much (bottom right picture)

That being said, what dose of Vetsulin were you using? 2 units?

Usually, if the cat has been on another insulin first, we take that into consideration when starting Lantus, so if you were on 2U of Vetsulin, starting at somewhere around 1.5 is probably a good place

A little housekeeping note on your spreadsheet.....it will really help if you'll put a distinct line across when you started the Lantus....If you look on our spreadsheet, you'll see what I mean around 4/2/17 when I started China on a trial of Basaglar

I thought starting on at least 1u given his recent history would have been a good place, but that was my thinking.

As for the line... It was suggested to me and I'd love to do that, but besides using this SS I have no experience with this program and I've lost his SS once but "messing around" so I'm kind of nervous. Is there a way someone can have access to do that for me?
 
Can you clarify to what line you actually shot the lantus on the U100 syringe?

Did you actually shoot like in the picture Chris Gave you? Or was it more?
 
Is that a U100 or U40 syringe?

Sorry I'm not sure I follow the events clearly, just want to be sure I am giving you the correct info.
 
Yes that 5 means 5 units.
I'm glad everything worked out ok for Princeton.

You should be aware, that because Lantus is a depot insulin, you may still have some residual effect from the two 5u you shot on 5/10. (the Depot of a higher dose can influence numbers upto 6cycles after the shot) It was a very good move skipping yesterday, and fortunate that you realised something was wrong, Alls well that ends well, so don't beat yourself up about it.

If you are able to I would recommend trying to get a test in somewhere around +3 and +6 if you can, just to make sure he doesn't bottom out on you today.
