Well this weekend I went out and got a Relion confirm with all my other supplies, as soon as I tested Dagda I was shocked! The TRU meters indeed read a lot lower. Last night before dinner her bg was 330, now around her peak point I have just taken it again and it's 300. Not a big difference. I gave her full dose of Lantus 1.5 units but I'm thinking this isn't enough for her.. She is also currenty being switched from dry to wet ( right now it's mixed)

What do you guys think? Is it normal for numbers to be that high during peak time after insulin?

This is starting to get more confusing, I thought a new meter would help! :/

Patience grasshopper  Lantus needs time to "build up a shed" and to have any sort of effect on blood glucusoe levels. You can't rush reglation. Follow the advie of Lantus users here to help your cat become regulated. It make take a few weeks or a few months. Every cat is different

Stick with the 1.5 units for now and work on the diet change. Once all the dry food is gone you may see a decrease in blood glucose levels. At that time 1.5 units may be enough to lower blood glucose levels or you may need to adjust it.

Thank you so much! I know I need to be patient, I just want her to start feeling better. I'll stick with the 1.5 like you said she seems to be doing okay on it so far. I just need to slow down and -breath-

HI Holly, I havent been on the board in a while so not sure how long your kitty has been on insulin. The first 4 weeks after my cat went on insulin were crazy - I got numbers that were all over the place. Fortunately from this board I learned that you have to stay consistent and not react to every test. Sitka started on one unit and did go up to 1.5 units but has been steady there for a 3 months. So yes you do have to be patient - remember this is a marathon not a sprint. Getting your kitty off the dry food makes a world of difference in the blood glucose numbers!!! Jan
