Hello everyone,
It seems like forever since I was on the board. I can't believe how Riley has turned around. Just three weeks ago we had made the decision to let Riley go. I figured that if he couldn't get healthy here, I knew he would be whole and happy in the next life. Sina and others encouraged me to get one more blood test. I did and the prognosis was to double his potassium plus I started him on Baytril. Besides the Zobaline we took him off everything else especially the phosphorous binder, B-Right, cerenia, Clavamox, etc. Sina sent me a recipe for a liver drink. I swear Riley lived on that for a week. But amazingly he started to put on weight. Unfortunately, his kidney infection made him avoid the litter box so I bought puppy pads that someone else had suggested and that saved me alot of work. He walked on his hocks and although I would carry him to his litter box, once he peed his poor feet would be caked with wet litter so we had to clean his feet. He peed on the floor alot. At one point I watched him lay on a puppy pad and pee it full, poor boy. Meanwhile, I changed his food to the new recommended ones on Lisa the vet's site. Slowly, Riley has made a dramatic turnaround. In the past two days, his walk has improved dramatically, he is using his litter box, he has normal bowel movements, pees normal, eats normal, acts close to the old Riley.
It's amazing. I don't know how long it will last but for now I'm celebrating and I wanted to share the good news with all of you who have been such an encouragement to me. If you all hadn't been with us every step of the way Riley wouldn't be here today. Thanks all of you again so much!!!!
