I called Abbott - no help with the phones. They said with a prescription I can get a reader for free. But do not know if that applies when the prescription would come from a vet.

The Abbott rep said the reader does send info to the LibreLink app, but she was very checked out and barely tried to help answer questions. While you and another person online said the Reader doesn't send info to the Libre Link app. So I am ...stalling out. I can't get a used phone before my 9am.appt with the vet tomorrow. Will look into it, but it seems I will have more time to practice the regular blood glucose test process... Running out of ear space on my cat!! :(
I’m sorry Abbott sucked with “customer service”. Been there. They’re not great.

And yes, the prescription from a vet won’t work.

So best bet is try to get a compatible phone as inexpensively as you can when you can.
And good luck with the pokes!! (Good practice anyway )

Ok, thanks for the reply. Will look up used/old phones. Was supposed to have the Libre put on tomorrow morning at the vet (he was quite enthused about the idea). But that will need to be delayed until I can get the phone/app situation worked out.

Once the capillaries swell, it will be much easier to draw blood, I have been testing Corky on the same ear for 3 years, his veins on the right ear are so so thin I have never been able to draw blood from it, It can be a good thing to try testing with the human monitor and strips, yiu poor thing you have been going thru a lot with that Libre so far, as long as you get the BGs before shot time and a 2-3 During the day would be of great help for you and Cali. Also, you should start another thread we like to keep each thread to 50 posts, you might want to call it Cali’s Continuation thread

Thanks so much. How often do you recommend the extra tests throughout the day? Are people testing their cats every 2 hours every day??

If I start a new thread, can I just tag people by @ing them? Thanks!

I’m an obsessive tester, but 2-3-4 times during the day plus before shot is great to achieve better data on how the insulin reacts during each cycle, you get a much better reading with the human monitor than the Libre, as you’ve noticed, the Libre only reach the highs up to a certain number and lows tends to read much much lower than what really is, is up to you and time you have available to test but testing this way the members knowledgeable that can guide you with Lantus, will have a better picture

@Sienne and Gabby (GA)
Could you help with a new thread title, and refer to my suggestion if needs to be different

We suggest a minimum of 4 tests per day. You always want to test before giving a shot (your AMPS and PMPS tests). You also want to get a minimum of one additional test during both the AM and PM cycles. The goal is to know how low the insulin is bringing Cali's numbers. You do not base your dose on the pre-shot test.

Also, I'd like to ask a housekeeping favor. We try to limit the number of posts in a thread to 50. Otherwise it gets too long for people to read especially if they need to get caught up on something that's going on with Cali. If you could start a new thread tomorrow, that would be great.
