Hello - just joined...been reading since last night and while I have gained a good bit of knowledge and due to overseeing my husbands insulin dosage, BG levels and carb intake, I am not completely in the dark...with that said, I am pretty sure my baby is ill with diabetes...I can't get her to the vet before Tues and may not make that. My husband has so many problems and it seems like we spend more time seeing docs and he has appointments T-W-T-F next week. We live in the country so getting ready and going and getting back home takes most of the day!
I have read the info on deleting carbs from her diet. She has never like canned cat food nor human food, and is very picky about dry.
Can anyone suggest a food that is available at a pet store that would be a good choice? I would like to get something right now and start it. I am concerned that with my hubby's care requiring so much that I will not be able to do what needs to be done for my AnnieCat.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanx

Do you know anybody who has a human blood glucose meter?
You can go to a human pharmacy and and get urine test srips that test fro boith glucose and ketones. If diabetic there will be glucose in the urine. If also ketones that is bad and requires immediate vet visit.

Tiki Cat's non-rice formulas tend to be carb free. They're a little pricey but they look something like shredded meat and my cat Shiro enjoyed them very much when he was still eating. Because they're actual meat and not a mush cats tend to find them a little more palatable. Good luck!
