Mocha is about 14 and I took her in 7 years ago when my friend developed alzheimer's and could no longer care for her. She had been on prednisolone for skin issues and was diagnosed with diabetes two months ago. She has not been on the pred for quite a while. She started on Senvelgo liquid (an sglt like bexacat) about 4 weeks ago. I put it on a little food and she eats it. Her bg was about 411 when diagnosed and a week later it was 311. But since then it has been increasing and last week was 500. She gained a little weight and her ketones were okay. The vet said that it would take a while for her to adjust to the med. I know a lot about diabetes from the human side and this just does not seem right to me. I would actually prefer the lantus shot, but she is a difficult cat to handle. Not looking forward to testing her bg. Did any of you on bexacat or senvelgo experience a delay in the bg dropping, even after a month? Not sure what to do.
